The Digitus DN-81602 is a 2 m direct attach copper (DAC) cable with a QSFP28 connector on each end, compliant with 100GBASE-CR4, for 100 Gigabit Ethernet links between switches, servers and storage in the same or the neighbouring rack.
Inside are four lanes of up to 28.3125 Gbps each, which together carry 100 Gbps. Because the QSFP28 connectors are fixed to a copper twinax cable, you do not buy two optical transceivers and a fibre patch cord for every short link — one cable, plugged in at both ends, makes the connection. Digitus lists Cisco as manufacturer compatibility and names a long list of compatible switch brands.
Before you order: Switch vendors such as Cisco, HPE Aruba, Juniper and Dell may only accept their own coded cables by default and can show an unsupported-transceiver warning or keep the port down. Send us the exact switch and NIC models before you order and we will check compatibility.

What It Means in Practice
- Plug one end into a 100G QSFP28 port on the switch and the other into a QSFP28 port on the second switch, server NIC or storage system — that is the whole link.
- At 2 m it covers top-of-rack to servers in the same rack and adjacent switch-to-switch uplinks.
- No optics means nothing to clean and no transceiver heat in the port; DDM (digital diagnostics) is not provided.
- Both ends draw 3.3 V from the port, as standard for QSFP28 modules.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit SFP28 (25G) or SFP+ (10G) ports.
- It is not a breakout cable: it cannot split 100G into 4 × 25G.
- 40G-only QSFP+ ports cannot run it at 100G — check that both ports support 100GBASE-CR4.
- It does not report DDM/optical diagnostics to the switch.
- Not for long distances: beyond a few metres use QSFP28 optical transceivers with fibre.
