The DIGITUS DN-97696 is a 1U 19-inch rack panel with 12 standard D-Type cut-outs, made for building your own connection panel for audio, video and data in a rack. It mounts on the 19" profile rails of network and server cabinets or AV equipment racks and gives every cable a tidy, labelled entry point at the front.
The D-Type format is the common flange size used by XLR, jack, Speakon, HDMI, USB, BNC, LAN and FireWire panel connectors, so one panel can carry a mix of signal types — ideal for meeting rooms, stage racks, broadcast and AV installations. The panel is supplied empty: you choose and buy the connector inserts that match your system.
Before you order: The panel holds standard D-Type (D-size flange) connector inserts only, and none are included. DIGITUS does not publish a list of specific module part numbers — check that your inserts use the standard D-Type flange and fixing holes before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- Fill only the positions you need now and leave the rest open for later — 12 positions in 1U.
- Mix signal types on one panel: XLR and Speakon for audio, HDMI and BNC for video, RJ45 and USB for data.
- The panel is about 11 mm deep, so it adds almost no depth in the rack; the connector inserts and cables determine the real depth needed.
- Black RAL 9005 powder-coated steel matches most black 19" cabinets and AV racks.
What Will Not Work
- It will not hold keystone jacks or non-D-Type modules — keystone modules need a keystone patch panel.
- No connectors are included; on its own the panel is a blank plate with holes.
- DIGITUS publishes no cable-management or strain-relief bar for this panel — support heavy cables separately.
- It does not fit 10" racks or wall boxes narrower than 19".
