The DIGITUS DN-81312 is a 5 m, 40 Gigabit active optical cable (AOC) with a QSFP+ module fixed at each end. It connects two QSFP+ ports — switch to switch, switch to server or storage — without separate transceivers or a loose MPO patch cord, and is light and thin enough to route across a rack row.
The cable carries four full-duplex channels of up to 11.3 Gbps each (45.2 Gbps aggregate) over 850 nm multimode optics, covering data rates from 2.125 to 41.2 Gbps. Besides 40G Ethernet it is listed for InfiniBand, Fibre Channel (2G to 12.5G), PCIe and SAS applications. It follows the QSFP MSA and IEEE P802.3ba, runs on 3.3 V and draws less than 1.5 W.
Before you order: Both ends must be QSFP+ (40G) ports that accept MSA-compliant third-party optics. DIGITUS lists compatibility with brands including Cisco, Dell, 3Com, Juniper, Huawei, Netgear, Fortinet and Zyxel, but switches that enforce vendor-coded optics may still reject it — send us your switch model and we will check.
