DIGITUS DS-12891 4-Port DisplayPort KVM Switch

4 computers · 1 monitorDisplayPort · 4K 60HzAudio switching4 KVM cable sets incl.

The DIGITUS DS-12891 is a 4-port DisplayPort KVM switch that lets four computers share one 4K monitor, a USB keyboard and mouse, and speakers, at up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz. Part number DS-12891 includes four 1.8 m KVM cable sets, switches by front button or keyboard hotkeys, and runs from USB power in a metal housing.

Compatibility note: The front USB port is USB 2.0 full-speed, meant for low-bandwidth devices rather than external drives. DIGITUS does not publish the DisplayPort version; the 4K60 rating is 3840 x 2160 (not 4096 x 2160 as some resellers list). An optional 5 V / 2 A adapter is available if USB bus power is insufficient.

Key Features

4K60 for four computers
One DisplayPort console output carries 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz, so four workstations or servers share a sharp 4K screen without the 30 Hz lag of HDMI 1.4 switches.

Cables in the box
Four complete 1.8 m KVM cable sets (DisplayPort, USB and audio) connect all four computers straight away.

Hotkeys and audio
Switch by front button or keyboard hotkeys, with status LEDs, 3.5 mm audio switching and Dolby TrueHD / DTS-HD Master Audio pass-through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the DIGITUS DS-12891 switch computers with HDMI outputs?
Only with active HDMI-to-DisplayPort adapters, since the inputs are DisplayPort. For HDMI sources the DIGITUS DS-12880 (4K30) or DS-12874 (2-port 4K60) are simpler.
Is the DS-12891 suitable for a 144 Hz gaming monitor?
DIGITUS only rates it at 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz and does not list high-refresh modes, so do not count on 144 Hz through this switch.
What is the difference between the DS-12891 and the DS-12880?
Both are 4-port single-monitor switches with the same body and cables included. The DS-12891 uses DisplayPort and runs 4K at 60 Hz; the DS-12880 uses HDMI 1.4b and runs 4K at 30 Hz.
Singular Expert Insight
The DS-12891 is the pick in this group for four DisplayPort workstations sharing one 4K monitor at a smooth 60 Hz, such as a design studio or a lab bench with several test PCs. With all cables included it is ready out of the box; see our KVM switch range for dual-monitor or HDMI options.
✓ Buy it if four DisplayPort computers must share one 4K60 monitor with cables included.
✕ Skip it if your sources are HDMI or you need two monitors per computer.
→ Also consider the HDMI-based DIGITUS DS-12880 for 4K30, or the Argus AS-42HA for four dual-monitor PCs.
