Digitus OS2 LC to LC Simplex Fibre Patch Cord — 5 m, steel-armoured
OS2 singlemodeLC/APC to LC/APC5 m · WhiteLSZH · Ø 3.0 mm
The Digitus DK-2933A-05-LCA-SX is a 5 m simplex OS2 singlemode fibre patch cord with LC on one end and LC on the other, for connecting singlemode LR/LX/BiDi transceivers, switches, media converters and patch panels. OS2 singlemode (9/125 µm) is the fibre for long-reach optics at 1310/1550 nm — LR, LX, ER and BiDi transceivers, building backbones, FTTH and carrier hand-offs.
Both ends: LC — the small latching connector used by SFP, SFP+ and SFP28 transceivers and most modern patch panels. Digitus specifies it for indoor use and markets it for FTTH, industrial automation and enterprise networks.
Before you order: This is a single fibre with green LC/APC connectors on both ends. Both ports must be LC/APC — check the colour of the port (green = APC, blue = UPC) or send us the model.
What's in the Box
- 1 × DIGITUS fiber optic steel-armored patch cable, simplex, singlemode, LC/APC - LC/APC, 5 m (per Digitus)
What It Means in Practice
- Simplex means one single fibre. It suits BiDi (single-fibre) optics and FTTH drops; a standard SFP port with separate Tx and Rx needs two simplex cords or a duplex cord.
- The steel armour protects the fibre against crushing, kinking and rodents, which makes it suitable for floor ducts, industrial cabinets and exposed runs while staying flexible.
- 5 m is the right length between racks in a row, or from the rack to a fibre outlet across the room. Order the shortest length that reaches without tension — excess fibre has to be coiled in the cable manager.
- The fibre is ITU-T G.657.A2 bend-insensitive, so it tolerates tight routing in cable managers much better than standard fibre — but avoid kinks and sharp edges all the same.
- LSZH jacket — low smoke, zero halogen — the expected choice for offices, server rooms and public buildings.
- Keep the dust caps on until the moment you plug in. A dirty ferrule is the number one cause of high loss; clean the end faces if the ports have been left open.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode optics (SR, SX) — they need an OM3/OM4 multimode cord; singlemode fibre does not substitute.
- Ports with SC, ST, MTP/MPO connectors — this cord terminates in LC on both ends only.
- Blue UPC/PC ports — an APC (green, 8° angled) connector must only mate with APC. Plugging it into UPC damages the end faces and gives very high loss.
- A standard duplex SFP port on its own — one simplex cord carries only one direction.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an SFP/fibre port or a media converter on each side.
Key Features
Connectors
LC on both ends, APC polish.
Fibre grade
OS2 singlemode, 9/125 µm, ITU-T G.657.A2.
Jacket
LSZH jacket, 3.0 mm outer diameter over the steel armour, white; the green connector housings mark the APC polish.
Quality
Steel armour against crushing, bending and rodents; published insertion loss 0.3 dB at 1310 nm and return loss ≥ 60 dB — the high return loss APC is chosen for.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP+ module?
Only if the port is LC/APC (green), which is rare on SFP modules. Standard SFP/SFP+ optics are LC/UPC duplex — for those use a duplex UPC cord such as the Digitus DK-2933-05.
Can I extend it?
Yes, with a matching LC or LC coupler in a panel. Every mated pair adds some insertion loss — fine for short patching, but plan long links as a single cord or a permanent installation.
Is OS2 compatible with OS1?
Yes. Both are 9/125 µm singlemode; OS2 is the current low-water-peak grade and works with any OS1/OS2 singlemode equipment.
UPC or APC — does it matter?
Yes. This cord is APC (green, angled). It must connect to APC ports only, such as FTTH/GPON terminals and RF-video links.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords are chosen by three things: the fibre grade (it must match the optics), the connector on each end and the polish. OS2 with LC to LC is the combination this cord covers. Need the active side as well? Browse our
switches with SFP ports and match the transceiver to singlemode fibre.
✓ Buy it if you need a 5 m OS2 singlemode link with LC on both ends and APC ports.
✕ Skip it if your optics are multimode (SR/SX), your ports are UPC (blue), or you need a different connector on either end.
→ Also consider a duplex OS2 LC/UPC cord (Digitus DK-2933-05) for standard SFP ports, or ask us for an APC cord in another length.
Not sure which grade or connector you have? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check it before you order.
