DIGITUS DN-PWR-SST-125 — 5 V / 12 W Step-Shape DIN-Rail Power Supply
5 V DC · 2.4 A · 12 WUltra-Slim · 18 mmClass II · LPSAC or DC input
The DIGITUS DN-PWR-SST-125 is a compact 12 W DIN-rail power supply that delivers a regulated 5 V DC at up to 2.4 A from a single 18 mm-wide module on a TH35 rail. Its step-shaped housing is the profile used in modern distribution boards, so it sits flush behind a standard cover plate next to breakers and modular devices. DIGITUS designs it for sensors, IoT gateways and low-voltage electronics in automation, building-automation and security installations.
Input is wide-range: 90–264 V AC or 127–370 V DC, so the same module works on 230 V mains and on a DC bus. The output is trimmable from 4.5–5.5 V, regulated to ±2%, and protected against short circuit and overload with automatic recovery, plus an overvoltage limit of 5.75–6.75 V. The double-insulated Class II design needs no protective earth, and the unit is certified to UL 62368-1 and EN 62368-1 with EN 55032 Class B emissions.
Before you order: The 18 mm Ultra-Slim models are rated only up to +47 °C ambient. In a sun-exposed or crowded cabinet that runs hotter, choose a 35 mm Slim model (rated to +70 °C) instead. This is a 5 V supply — do not connect 12 V or 24 V devices.
What's in the Box
- 1 × DIGITUS Step-Shape DIN-rail power supply 5 V / 12 W (DN-PWR-SST-125)
- 1 × Quick Installation Guide
- No DIN rail, wiring or end clamps included
What It Means in Practice
- Load budget: 2.4 A at 5 V (12 W). Add up the maximum current of your sensors or controller and keep about 20% in reserve.
- Width on the rail is only 18 mm (1 module), height 90 mm and depth 58 mm — it fits shallow distribution boards with a standard step profile.
- Terminal order is printed on the unit: +V (1), -V (2), AC/N (3), AC/L (4). Wiring must be done by a qualified electrician with the supply isolated.
- Overload is handled in hiccup mode: the output switches off and retries automatically once the fault is gone — no manual reset needed.
What Will Not Work
- It will not power loads above 2.4 A / 12 W — use a larger unit for motors, PoE switches or heaters.
- It will not stay within rating in cabinets hotter than +47 °C ambient.
- It is not a plug-in adapter: no mains plug, no barrel jack and no USB output.
- No status relay, battery backup or redundancy function is published.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it need an earth connection?
No. The unit is Class II (double insulated), so only L and N are connected on the input side. Follow local wiring regulations for the installation itself.
Can I feed it from a DC supply?
Yes. DIGITUS specifies a DC input range of 127–370 V DC in addition to 90–264 V AC — useful on high-voltage DC buses. It is not suitable for 12 V or 24 V DC sources.
Which other outputs are available in this series?
DIGITUS offers the Step-Shape series as DN-PWR-SST-125 (5 V/12 W), DN-PWR-SST-1512 (12 V/15 W), DN-PWR-SST-1524 (24 V/15 W), DN-PWR-SST-2412 (12 V/24 W) and DN-PWR-SST-3624 (24 V/36 W).
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The DN-PWR-SST-125 is a well-documented little module: DIGITUS publishes ripple, regulation, MTBF and the full certification list, which is exactly what an installer needs for sensor and IoT circuits. 5 V DIN-rail supplies are hard to find; this one suits single-board computers, USB-powered gateways and 5 V logic, within its +47 °C limit. For network gear in the same cabinet, see our
rack accessories and ask us about the right supply for switches.
✓ Buy it if you need a small, certified 5 V DC supply of up to 12 W that fits a step-profile distribution board.
✕ Skip it if your cabinet runs above +47 °C or your device needs 12 V or 24 V.
→ Also consider DIGITUS DN-PWR-SST-1512 for 12 V devices.
