The Digitus DK-1618 CAT 6 U/UTP Slim patch cable is a 0.3 m yellow RJ45 network lead with a 2.7 mm jacket, made for tidy patching in crowded switches, patch panels and desks running Gigabit Ethernet.
It uses stranded AWG 32/7 bare-copper conductors in an LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket, is wired T568B 1:1 and carries moulded anti-kink boots that also protect the RJ45 latch. Digitus specifies it for CAT 6 transmission up to 250 MHz and lists 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T and 1000BASE-T as its applications.
Before you order: Part number DK-1618-003S-Y is a single cable. If you need ten of the same length and colour, order DK-1618-003S-Y-10 instead.

What It Means in Practice
- At 2.7 mm the cable is much thinner than a standard CAT 6 patch lead, so a fully populated 24- or 48-port switch stays readable, cables bend around cable managers more easily and airflow at the front of the rack is less blocked.
- Typical use for 0.3 m: very short jumpers between a patch panel and a switch in the same rack, or between stacked devices.
- Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) is the speed of almost every office switch, PC, printer, NVR and Wi-Fi access point, so for normal office and home networks this cable is not a bottleneck.
- The yellow jacket lets you colour-code connections (for example uplinks, cameras, phones or a guest VLAN) so they can be traced at a glance.
What Will Not Work
- 10 Gigabit Ethernet: 10GBASE-T is not among the applications Digitus lists for this slim cable. For 10 GbE links choose a CAT 6A cable.
- Shielded installations: this is U/UTP (no foil or braid). Where the cabling is specified as shielded or the area has strong electrical interference (motors, industrial machines), use an S/FTP or F/FTP patch cable.
- Permanent or outdoor cabling: it is a flexible patch lead with a stranded conductor, not installation cable for walls, ducts or outdoor runs.
- PoE: suitability for Power over Ethernet is not published by Digitus. The thin 32 AWG conductors have a higher resistance than standard patch cables, so for high-power PoE devices on longer leads prefer a standard-gauge cable.
