The DIGITUS DN-96005-2 is a duplex SC/UPC fibre optic coupler (female to female) for OM3 multimode (50/125 µm) links, colour-coded aqua, used to join two SC duplex patch cords or to mount SC ports in patch panels, splice boxes and junction boxes.
It carries two channels side by side, so one coupler joins both fibres of a duplex connection. Inside, a ceramic (zirconia) alignment sleeve holds the ferrules on axis; Digitus specifies insertion loss of up to 0.2 dB and return loss of at least 50 dB for the UPC end faces. Fixing screws and dust caps come with it.
Before you order: This is a SC/UPC coupler. Do not use it with APC (green, angled) connectors and do not mix singlemode cords through it — match the coupler to the cords on both sides.

What It Means in Practice
- Join two SC duplex patch cords to extend a run without re-terminating — a typical join adds only a fraction of a dB.
- Populate an SC duplex position in a fibre patch panel or splice box; the aqua colour follows the usual OM3 multimode coding, so the panel stays readable.
- Use the dust caps on every unused side: a dirty end face is the most common cause of a fibre link that "suddenly" fails.
- Mount it with the supplied screws — check that your panel uses screw-fixed couplers before ordering.
What Will Not Work
- APC connectors (green, angled end face) — they need an APC coupler; forcing them into UPC damages the end faces.
- Singlemode OS2 cords — a singlemode coupler with a tighter-tolerance sleeve is the correct part.
- LC, ST or MPO connectors — this coupler accepts SC only; joining SC to LC needs a hybrid coupler or a hybrid patch cord.
- Panels with snap-in-only cut-outs without screw holes — the flange/cut-out size is not published, so send us your panel model first.
