The DIGITUS DN-FO-FC is a compact precision cleaver that cuts a stripped optical fibre with a clean, flat end-face in one step, ready for fusion splicing or for field-installable connectors. It handles standard 125 µm silica fibre with 250 µm or 900 µm coating and is light enough to carry in a tool bag for installation and repair work.

Cleave quality is what decides splice loss: DIGITUS specifies an average cleave angle of 0.7° or better (1.2° maximum) on single fibres and a breakage rate of 5% or less. The 3-in-1 fixture accepts bare fibre, loose-tube (butterfly and round) and ribbon fibre, and the blade can be rotated through 24 positions and 3 heights for about 48,000 cleaves before it needs replacing.

• A good cleave is the cheapest way to lower splice and connector loss — a poor angle cannot be fixed by the splicer.
• Cleave length of 9–16 mm (250 µm coating) or 10–16 mm (900 µm) suits the holders of common splicers and field connectors.
• Rotating the blade to a new position when cuts degrade gives roughly 48,000 cleaves from one blade.
• At 255 g it travels easily for on-site repairs, from -10 °C to 50 °C.

• It does not strip, clean or splice — those need separate tools.
• It is not for plastic optical fibre or for fibres with a cladding other than 125 µm.
