The DIGITUS HDMI Fiber IP Extender Set 4K/60Hz (part DS-55350) is a transmitter and receiver that carry HDMI video, audio, IR and RS-232 over fibre optic cable — up to 40 km on single-mode or 300 m on multimode — for digital signage, auditoriums, campuses and industrial sites where copper runs are too long or exposed to interference.
Each unit has an SFP slot for LC or SC modules. The signal is H.265-compressed over IP, so it can also run point-to-multipoint and cascade over 1G switches. IR pass-through lets you keep using the source remote at the display end, and the transmitter has an HDMI loop-out for a local screen.
Before you order: SFP modules are not included and the set will not work without them. Add two DIGITUS DN-81002 (LC single-mode) or DN-81000 (LC multimode), matched to your fibre.

What It Means in Practice
- Send a media player or PC picture to a screen kilometres away on single-mode fibre, or across a building on multimode.
- Point the source remote at the receiver side; the IR signal returns to the source over the fibre.
- RS-232 carries display or projector control; 3.5 mm audio travels alongside the HDMI audio.
- Use the HDMI loop-out at the transmitter for a local preview monitor.
What Will Not Work
- No SFP modules in the box — order them separately.
- No keyboard/mouse (KVM) control — for that choose DS-55348.
- Compressed signal with 80–140 ms latency — not for gaming or latency-critical use.
- HDMI cables to source and display should be at most 5 m; indoor and dry use only.
