The DIGITUS HDMI Fiber KVM IP Extender Set 4K/60Hz (part DS-55348) is a transmitter and receiver that carry HDMI video, audio, USB keyboard/mouse and RS-232 over fibre optic cable — up to 40 km on single-mode or 300 m on multimode — for control rooms, industrial sites and campuses where a PC must be operated far from its user.

Each unit has an SFP slot for LC or SC modules, so you choose the fibre type. The signal is H.265-compressed over IP, which also allows point-to-multipoint (up to 253 receivers) and cascading over 1G switches. A local HDMI loop-out on the transmitter keeps a monitor at the source.

• Leave the PC in the server room and work at the far end with keyboard, mouse and a 4K/60Hz screen.
• Pick SFP modules by distance: single-mode for kilometres, multimode for up to 300 m inside a building.
• Use the HDMI loop-out at the transmitter for a local monitor next to the PC.
• RS-232 pass-through and 3.5 mm audio travel with the picture; multipoint lets one source reach many screens.

• No SFP modules in the box — order them separately.
• No IR pass-through.
• USB is 1.1 for keyboard and mouse only — not for USB drives, webcams or other high-speed devices.
• Compressed signal with 80–140 ms latency — not for fast gaming or latency-critical control.
• HDMI cables to source and display should be at most 5 m; indoor and dry use only.
