The DIGITUS DN-936M12-J is a field-assembly CAT 6A M12 female jack, X-coded and shielded, with IP67 protection, for building 10 Gbit Ethernet connections on machines, cameras and industrial equipment in harsh environments.

It accepts 8-wire installation cable (AWG 26–22, jacket 6.0–9.7 mm), screws onto a matching X-coded M12 plug and is assembled on site without special tools. The industrial zinc die-cast housing carries the cable shield through to the connector.

Before you order: X-coding is not interchangeable with A- or D-coded M12. Check that the device or mating plug is M12 X-coded (8-pin, 10G) before ordering. The feed name mentions "8 pin"; DIGITUS describes it as an 8-wire X-coded connection.

What It Means in Practice

  • Lets you make a custom-length 10G industrial Ethernet lead or extension in the field instead of ordering pre-made cables.
  • IP67 keeps dust and temporary water immersion out once mated, for use on machines, outdoor cameras or vehicles.
  • PoE, PoE+ and UPoE are supported, so powered devices can run through the connection.
  • Mating force is max. 30 N and the connector is rated for at least 100 mating cycles.

What Will Not Work

  • It will not mate with A-coded or D-coded M12 connectors, or with RJ45 directly.
  • It is not rated for stranded or solid conductors outside AWG 26–22, or cable jackets outside 6.0–9.7 mm.
  • Electrical rating is 0.5 A / 50 V AC / 60 V DC per contact — it is not a power connector.
  • IP67 applies only when mated or capped — an open jack is not sealed.
