DIGITUS OM4 SC to SC Duplex Multimode 50/125µm Fibre Optic Patch Cord, 1m, LSZH, Violet

The DIGITUS DK-2522-01-4 is a 1 m duplex multimode fibre optic patch cord (50/125 µm, OM4) with SC connectors at both ends, for connecting switches, transceivers, patch panels and servers and storage in multimode installations.

OM4 is the higher-bandwidth multimode grade: IEEE 802.3 specifies 10GBASE-SR for up to 400 m and 40G/100G SR4 for up to 150 m on OM4, which is why it is the usual choice in current data centres.

• SC — the larger square push-pull connector found on many patch panels, media converters, FTTH ONTs and older switch optics
• Duplex means two fibres in one cord — one transmits, one receives — the normal format for a switch-to-switch, switch-to-server or switch-to-patch-panel link.
• At 1 m it suits patching inside a single rack (switch to patch panel, or between two devices one or two units apart).
• LSZH jacket, 2.0 mm outer diameter: low smoke and zero halogen if it ever burns, which is what most offices, server rooms and public buildings ask for indoors.
• If a new duplex link stays down, the most common cause is crossed transmit/receive — swap the two fibres at one end and test again. Also check that both transceivers are the same type and wavelength.

• Singlemode transceivers (LR, LX, ER, BiDi singlemode) and OS1/OS2 singlemode cabling — multimode and singlemode fibre cannot be mixed on one link.
• Legacy 62.5/125 µm (OM1) cabling — the core size differs, so mixing it with this 50/125 µm cord adds large loss.
• Ports with a different connector: this cord needs SC ports at both ends. For any other combination choose a different cord rather than adding adapters to the link.
• Copper RJ45 ports — a fibre cord needs an optical port, an SFP/SFP+ transceiver or a media converter at each end.
