The DIGITUS DK-292SCA3LC-03 is a 3 m duplex singlemode fibre optic patch cord (9/125 µm, OS2) with an SC/APC connector on one end and an LC/PC connector on the other, for connecting switches, transceivers, patch panels and singlemode network equipment in singlemode installations.
Reach is set by the optics, not by this cord: singlemode transceivers such as 10GBASE-LR are specified by IEEE 802.3 for up to 10 km over OS2 fibre, so a short OS2 patch cord never limits the link.
Before you order: This is an APC-to-PC conversion cord. The SC/APC end (green, 8° angled polish) must go into APC equipment — typically FTTH ONT/OLT gear, RF-over-fibre or an APC patch panel — and the LC/PC end into standard PC/UPC ports such as SFP transceivers. Plugging an APC connector into a PC/UPC port (or the reverse) causes very high loss and can damage both end faces.

What It Means in Practice
- SC — the larger square push-pull connector found on many patch panels, media converters, FTTH ONTs and older switch optics
- LC — the small-form-factor latch connector used on SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and QSFP transceivers and on most current switches and patch panels
- Duplex means two fibres in one cord — one transmits, one receives — the normal format for a switch-to-switch, switch-to-server or switch-to-patch-panel link.
- At 3 m it suits patching within a rack or to the next rack in the same row.
- LSZH jacket, 2.0 mm outer diameter: low smoke and zero halogen if it ever burns, which is what most offices, server rooms and public buildings ask for indoors.
- If a new duplex link stays down, the most common cause is crossed transmit/receive — swap the two fibres at one end and test again. Also check that both transceivers are the same type and wavelength.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode transceivers (SR/SX) and multimode patch panels — singlemode and multimode fibre cannot be mixed on one link.
- Swapping the ends: the APC end must not go into a PC/UPC port and the PC end must not go into an APC port.
- Ports with a different connector: this cord needs an SC port at one end and an LC port at the other. For any other combination choose a different cord rather than adding adapters to the link.
- Copper RJ45 ports — a fibre cord needs an optical port, an SFP/SFP+ transceiver or a media converter at each end.
