DIGITUS DK-1617-005 Cat 6 U/UTP Patch Cable, 0.5 m, Grey

Cat 6 U/UTP0.5 m250 MHzLSOH halogen-free

The DIGITUS DK-1617-005 is a 0.5 m grey Cat 6 U/UTP RJ45 patch cable with a LSOH halogen-free jacket, built for connecting PCs, printers, access points and network switches in offices and server racks. Part number DK-1617-005 belongs to the DIGITUS Professional range: 4 x 2 AWG 26/7 stranded conductors, both ends fitted with RJ45 (8P8C) plugs and moulded boots with kink protection, strain relief and latch protection, plus a transparent red plug that marks the cable as Cat 6 at a glance. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility note: Cat 6 is rated to 250 MHz: it carries 1 Gbit/s over any patch length and 10GBASE-T only over short channels (up to about 55 m per TIA TSB-155). Being U/UTP, it suits unshielded installations; for a fully screened Cat 6A link choose an S/FTP cable. DIGITUS does not publish a PoE class for this cord.

Key Features

Cat 6 U/UTP construction
Four twisted pairs of AWG 26/7 stranded wire (copper (Cu)), tested up to 250 MHz — flexible enough for dense patching yet within Cat 6 channel limits.

Protective moulded boots
Kink protection, strain relief and a latch guard on both RJ45 plugs stop snagging when cables are pulled through racks; the boot carries a length marking.

Colour-coded category plugs
The transparent red plug identifies Cat 6 instantly, while the grey LSOH jacket lets you colour-code VLANs, uplinks or departments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the DIGITUS DK-1617-005 suitable for Gigabit Ethernet?
Yes. As a Cat 6 U/UTP cord tested to 250 MHz it fully supports 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet between a switch, router, patch panel or PC. Over a short run it can also carry 10GBASE-T, but for guaranteed 10 Gbit/s at full distance a Cat 6A cable is the better choice.
What do I need to know before buying the DIGITUS DK-1617-005?
It is 0.5 m long, grey, with RJ45 plugs on both ends and a halogen-free LSOH jacket. LSOH is the right pick for offices, schools and public buildings where fire-safety rules ask for low-smoke cabling.
Singular Expert Insight
The DK-1617 series is the LSOH (halogen-free) version of DIGITUS’ Cat 6 U/UTP cords; the DK-1612 series is the cheaper PVC equivalent. At 0.5 m the DK-1617-005 is the right length for switch-to-patch-panel jumpers one or two units apart. Choose the grey DK-1617-005, white DK-1617-005/WH or green DK-1617-005/G to colour-code your runs. If your switches have 10 Gbit/s ports and you want full-distance headroom, step up to a Cat 6A S/FTP cord such as the DIGITUS DK-1644-A series.

Buyer's Guide

Buy it if
You need a 0.5 m Gigabit patch cord with a halogen-free LSOH jacket for an office, school or public-building rack.
Skip it if
You are patching 10 Gbit/s links in a shielded system — a Cat 6A S/FTP cord is the better match.
Also consider
DIGITUS DK-1612 (Cat 6 PVC, lower cost) or DK-1644-A (Cat 6A S/FTP, 500 MHz).
