DIGITUS Gigabit SFP to SFP Media Converter, Multimode to Singlemode Fibre, 100/1000Base-X, 2 SFP Slots, with Power Adapter

The DIGITUS DN-82133 is a fibre-to-fibre media converter with two SFP slots: it joins two optical links that cannot talk to each other directly, for example a multimode run inside a building and a single-mode line arriving from another site, or two links on different wavelengths. It works at 100 Mbps (155 Mbps line rate) or 1 Gbps (1.25 Gbps), with the optics chosen by the SFP modules you fit.

Typical users are installers extending an existing multimode backbone over a longer single-mode route, or connecting a provider single-mode handover to older multimode cabling, without replacing switches at either end.

• Multimode to single-mode: fit a 1000Base-SX module on the multimode side and a 1000Base-LX module on the single-mode side, and the two runs become one Gigabit link.
• Wavelength or distance change: put different modules in the two slots (e.g. 1310 nm short-reach and 1550 nm long-reach) to bridge links built on different optics.
• Supported fibre: multimode 50/125, 62.5/125 and 100/140 µm; single-mode 8.3, 8.7, 9 and 10/125 µm; multimode at 850/1310 nm and single-mode at 1310/1550 nm, depending on the modules.
• Distance on each side is set by the SFP module, not by the converter.
• Small standalone box (95 × 70 × 26 mm), 3.5 W consumption, with status and activity LEDs.

• Connecting a copper RJ45 device — use an RJ45-to-SFP converter instead.
• 10G SFP+ modules — the slots run at 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps only.
• Mixing speeds, e.g. a 100 Mbps module in one slot and a 1 Gbps module in the other.
• Operating without modules — both slots must be populated.
• Link Fault Pass-through or DIP-switch functions — DIGITUS does not list them for this model.
