The Digitus DK-2522-02-4 is a 2 m duplex fibre optic patch cable with SC and SC connectors on OM4 multimode fibre (50/125 µm), for connecting multimode SFP/SFP+ transceivers, media converters and patch panels in racks, offices and server rooms.

OM4 is the higher-bandwidth grade of laser-optimised 50/125 µm multimode fibre. It runs the same short-reach optics as OM3 (1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 100G SR) over longer distances, and the violet (heather / erika) jacket marks it as OM4 in the rack.

Before you order: This is OM4 multimode cable. It only works with multimode optics (SR/SX, 850 nm) and multimode panels, not with LX/LR singlemode transceivers.

What It Means in Practice

  • 2 m covers patching inside a rack or between neighbouring racks, or from a wall outlet to a desk-side device.
  • Duplex means two fibres (transmit and receive) in one cable, which is exactly what a standard duplex SFP, SFP+ or QSFP transceiver needs.
  • LSZH jacket, 2 mm outer diameter, erika violet (RAL 4003): halogen-free, the usual requirement for cabling inside offices, public buildings and data rooms.

What Will Not Work

  • Both ends are SC. Most SFP/SFP+ transceivers use LC, so this cable is for SC panels, media converters and SC-equipped devices, not for plugging straight into an LC transceiver.
  • It is not a copper cable: it does not connect to RJ45 ports or copper (RJ45) SFP modules.

Will it work with my SFP/SFP+ transceiver?
Yes if the transceiver is multimode (SR/SX, 850 nm) and you connect through a panel or device with SC/ST ports, since SFP/SFP+ modules use LC. LR/LX singlemode optics need an OS2 cable.
The link does not come up. What should I check?
First clean both connector end-faces and check that the transceivers on both sides are the same type and wavelength. Then check polarity: transmit on one side must reach receive on the other.
Can I join two cables to make a longer run?
Yes, with a matching SC coupler, but every mated pair adds loss. For a permanent longer link it is better to order the right length in one piece; ask us and we will check which lengths of this series we can supply.
