The DIGITUS DN-81204 is a 10 Gbit bidirectional (BiDi) SFP+ module that runs a full 10G link over a single single-mode fibre strand, up to 10 km. It transmits at 1270 nm and receives at 1330 nm through a simplex LC connector, with digital diagnostics, and is built to the MSA standard for switches that accept third-party optics. In practice, bidirectional optics are used where fibre is scarce — a leased dark-fibre strand, a full duct or an old building link. Before you order, confirm which end of the strand gets which module type and that the fibre is single-mode all the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a BiDi module, not a two-fibre LR optic: the far end needs a module that transmits at 1330 nm and receives at 1270 nm — two DN-81204 will not link. The connector is simplex LC. DIGITUS does not name the partner part in the datasheet, so ask us and we match it. The DN-81206 has the same wavelengths but reaches 40 km. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
