The DIGITUS DA-70246 is for a desk that has finished moving to USB-C. One USB-C plug becomes four USB-C sockets, all running USB 3.1 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gbps, so the drive, the dock cable, the phone lead and the headset adapter all connect directly with nothing in between. The body is 95 mm of aluminium in dark grey weighing 35 g, on a 15 cm captive cable, built around a GL3510 controller and needing no drivers on macOS, Windows or Chrome OS.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Every downstream port is USB-C — there is not a single USB-A socket on this hub. A USB-A flash drive, a wireless mouse receiver or an older dongle will not plug in without an adapter you supply, so check what you actually own before ordering. There is no Power Delivery and no power input: it occupies a USB-C port and gives nothing back, so it will not charge the notebook, and DIGITUS itself notes that high-consumption devices such as external drives or printers may need their own supply. Do not confuse it with the DA-70245, which is physically identical but has two USB-A and two USB-C ports at 10 Gbps — one digit apart, twice the speed, different sockets.

Are there any USB-A ports on it?
None at all. All four downstream ports are USB-C. That is the whole point of this model — it is for people whose accessories are already USB-C and who would rather not run an adapter on every cable. If you still use USB-A flash drives, a wireless mouse receiver or older dongles, this is the wrong hub: the DIGITUS DA-70245 gives you two USB-A and two USB-C instead, and it is faster as well.
How does it compare with the DIGITUS DA-70245?
They are physically indistinguishable — same 95 x 26 x 12 mm dark grey aluminium body, same 15 cm cable — and one digit apart in the code, which is exactly why this matters. The DA-70246 is four USB-C ports at 5 Gbps. The DA-70245 is two USB-A plus two USB-C at 10 Gbps, with BC 1.2 charging on the USB-A ports. Will it charge my laptop, or run a portable drive?
It will not charge the laptop — there is no Power Delivery and no power input, so the hub takes a USB-C port and gives nothing back. For drives, everything the four ports supply comes from that one host port; DIGITUS notes directly that high-consumption devices such as external hard disks or printers may need an external supply of their own. One bus-powered portable SSD is usually fine, several are not. Tell us what you plan to connect and we will check it.
