Annex B DSL and dual-WAN routing for small offices
VDSL2 profile 35b / ADSL2+6× Gigabit Ethernet totalUp to 32 VPN tunnelsNon-Wi-Fi / DE/AT/CH
The DrayTek Vigor 2865-B is a wired security router with an integrated Annex B DSL modem and configurable Ethernet WAN. Five fixed Gigabit LAN ports and a sixth Gigabit WAN2/P6 port support a flexible office layout. VPN, VLAN, routing and firewall controls provide options for suitable business networks, without built-in Wi-Fi or mobile broadband.
Best For: Small offices and wired networks needing compatible Annex B DSL, Ethernet WAN load balancing/failover and remote-access VPN.
Before you order: This is the DE/AT/CH Annex B SKU V2865-B-DE-AT-CH. Check the ISP line technology, Annex/profile, firmware, credentials, DSL cable and power plug before ordering for Cyprus. The Annex B DSL socket is physically RJ45 but is not an Ethernet LAN port. WAN2/P6 changes between Ethernet WAN and LAN. Wi-Fi, LTE and analogue phone functions belong to other variants.
What's in the Box
- Vigor 2865 wired router, destination-specific power adapter and quick start guide.
- Ethernet and appropriate Annex DSL cable are listed in the series wired guide; verify the exact regional lead and plug supplied.
- USB cellular modem, SIM/service, external wireless access point and separately licensed services are not included by this listing.
What It Means in Practice
- Connect the compatible Annex B DSL service to the DSL socket using the correct regional lead and configure ISP authentication.
- Use WAN2/P6 for a separate Ethernet broadband connection or configure it as an additional Gigabit LAN port.
- Set supported load-balancing or failover policies when using DSL and Ethernet WAN services; both require suitable live subscriptions.
- Segment devices using supported 802.1Q VLANs and subnets, and apply appropriate firewall rules.
- Configure supported VPN protocols for authorised users; USB modem, printer or storage functions require compatible external devices.
What Will Not Work
- No built-in Wi-Fi, cellular modem, SIM slot, analogue FXS telephone ports or PoE is specified.
- All Ethernet ports are Gigabit, not 2.5GbE. The separate DSL connector must not be counted as Ethernet.
- Vigor 2865 is not the G.fast 2866 model. Regional Annex/ISP compatibility is not universal.
- Web-category filtering and some central services require separate subscriptions or licences; inclusion is not promised.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it have six Ethernet ports?
Yes. Five are fixed LAN ports and WAN2/P6 is selectable as LAN or WAN. The separate Annex B DSL socket is not Ethernet.
Does this version include Wi-Fi or LTE?
No. This base wired model is distinct from ac, ax, Vac and LTE versions.
Is Annex B suitable for every DSL line?
No. Confirm the provider’s line technology, Annex/profile, firmware and required cable before ordering.
Does it support G.fast?
G.fast belongs to the separate 2866 range; it is not claimed for this Vigor 2865-B.
Are extra WAN or security services included?
Internet subscriptions, USB modem/SIM and paid filtering or management services are separate unless explicitly supplied.
Singular Expert Insight
Count Ethernet ports by function rather than socket shape: the Annex B DSL connection uses RJ45 but is electrically a DSL interface. Decide whether WAN2/P6 is needed for backup broadband or a sixth LAN device, then test failover and VPN policies with the actual provider services. Match regional firmware and line requirements before installation.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need a wired Annex B DSL router with configurable Ethernet WAN, VPN and network segmentation.
✕ Skip it if You need built-in Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, G.fast or multi-gigabit Ethernet.
→ Also consider Annex and ISP compatibility, exact DSL lead and plug, WAN subscriptions, VPN firmware and separate service licences.
