Durable MULTIMEDIA BOX I — Lockable Storage Box for CDs and DVDs in Their Cases
Approx. 26 jewel casesLockable5 dividersStackable
The Durable MULTIMEDIA BOX I (525610) is a grey, lockable filing box with a single drawer that stores approximately 26 CDs or DVDs in their hard jewel cases, sorted with 5 dividers and identified through a label window. It is aimed at offices, IT departments and archives that keep software, installation, backup or project discs in their original cases and want them filed, locked away and easy to carry.
Durable calls it an extendable, lockable archive system: the boxes are stackable, so you can add more as the collection grows, and each one has a handle so the whole box can be moved to another desk or cabinet. The same box also takes around 136 3.5" diskettes, which is why it often turns up in archives that still hold older media.
Before you order: Capacity is published for CDs/DVDs in standard hard jewel cases. DVD keep cases (the tall video-style cases) are a different size, and Durable publishes no capacity for them — if your discs are in DVD keep cases, ask us before ordering.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Durable MULTIMEDIA BOX I storage box with drawer, grey
- 5 dividers
- Lock (lockable box) and label window
- No discs, cases or labels are included
What It Means in Practice
- About 26 discs stay in their original cases, with booklets and licence stickers — useful when the case carries the product key.
- The 5 dividers let you split the drawer by customer, project, year or software type.
- The lock keeps licence and backup discs away from casual access on a shared desk or shelf.
- Stackable boxes with handles: add another box when you run out of room and move the archive in one piece.
What Will Not Work
- DVD keep cases or Blu-ray cases — capacity is published only for CD/DVD jewel cases.
- Bare discs in large numbers — for 200–400 bare discs a fleece wallet is far more space-efficient.
- High-security storage: this is an office filing lock, not a safe; Durable publishes no security or fire rating.
- Durable does not publish the material or lock/key details for this box.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many discs fit if I remove them from the cases?
Durable publishes the capacity only for discs in hard jewel cases (approx. 26). Without cases more will fit, but the dividers are designed around cased discs; for bare discs a storage wallet is the better choice.
Can I connect several boxes together?
Durable describes the MULTIMEDIA BOX as an extendable, stackable system, so boxes stack on top of each other. A mechanical connector is not published.
Is this a secure safe for software licences?
No. The lock prevents casual access in an office, but there is no published security or fire rating.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The MULTIMEDIA BOX I makes sense when the case matters — licence keys on the back, booklets, or audit rules that require the original media. It keeps a small archive sorted, locked and portable. If the aim is to keep the data itself safe, copy the discs to one of our
external SSDs and keep the originals locked in the box.
✓ Buy it if you keep around 26 software, backup or project discs in their jewel cases and want them sorted, locked and easy to carry.
✕ Skip it if you have hundreds of bare discs or DVD keep cases — a fleece wallet or a larger shelf solution fits better.
→ Also consider MediaRange BOX93 storage wallet (200 bare discs) if you do not need to keep the cases.
