EFB 19-inch 1U USB Charging Strip — 16 × USB-A, 84 W Total, Illuminated Switch
16 × USB-A19" · 1U84 W total3 m Schuko cable
The EFB EK631USB.1 is a 19-inch, 1U rack-mount charging strip with 16 USB-A ports at 5 V, built for charging tablets and phones inside charging cabinets, tablet trolleys and network racks. Instead of sixteen separate wall chargers, one strip takes a single Schuko outlet and feeds every device from one switched unit.
The housing is an anodised aluminium profile in black (similar to RAL 9005, matt), and an illuminated on/off switch on the front lets you cut charging for the whole strip at once — useful at the end of a school day or shift. EFB designs it specifically for charging mobile devices in tablet holders and cabinets.
Before you order: charging current is shared per pair of ports: each pair of USB-A ports delivers up to 2,100 mA together, and the whole strip is limited to 84 W. If you plug two tablets into one pair, they split that current, so plan one device per pair when you need full-speed charging.
What's in the Box
- 1 × EFB 19" 1U USB charging strip with 16 USB-A ports and fixed 3 m cable (Schuko angled plug)
- Mounting brackets (fitted to the 19" profile)
- USB charging cables are not included — use the cables supplied with your devices
What It Means in Practice
- Up to 16 devices charge from one mains outlet; with one device per port pair you can charge 8 devices at the full 2.1 A rate.
- Charging is 5 V USB only: phones, tablets, e-readers, handheld scanners and similar USB-powered devices.
- One illuminated switch turns all 16 ports on or off, so a charging cabinet can be powered down without unplugging anything.
- The 3 m cable reaches a wall socket or a power strip at the bottom of a tall cabinet.
What Will Not Work
- It is not a mains power strip — there are no Schuko or IEC sockets for laptops, monitors or other mains devices.
- No USB-C ports and no USB Power Delivery or Quick Charge: fast-charge phones charge only at the basic 5 V rate, and USB-C-only laptops will not charge.
- No surge protection, no residual-current device and no mains filter — connect it to a protected circuit if your site needs that.
- No data connection: the ports carry power only, so devices cannot sync or be managed through this strip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I charge 16 tablets at full speed at the same time?
No. Each pair of ports shares up to 2,100 mA and the strip is limited to 84 W in total, so 16 devices charging together share that budget. For full-rate charging, connect one device per port pair (8 devices).
Will it charge a laptop?
Only laptops that charge from 5 V USB-A, which is rare. It has no USB-C and no USB Power Delivery, so USB-C laptops need a USB-C PD charger instead.
Does it fit a standard 19-inch rack?
Yes. It is a 1U, 19-inch strip with a 465 mm mounting dimension and comes with mounting brackets for standard 19-inch rails, charging cabinets and wall-mounted distributors.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
This strip makes sense wherever many low-power USB devices charge in one place — school tablet cabinets, warehouse scanner racks, meeting-room trolleys. Its limit is the shared current: 84 W across 16 ports is plenty for overnight charging but slow if every port is busy with a large tablet. If your cabinet also needs mains sockets, look at our
rack accessories for 19-inch mains strips and PDUs.
✓ Buy it if you charge many phones, tablets or handheld scanners overnight in a 19-inch rack or charging cabinet and want one switched unit instead of a pile of chargers.
✕ Skip it if you need USB-C, USB Power Delivery or laptop charging, or you need mains sockets in the rack.
→ Also consider the EFB 1.5U version with 9 × USB-A and 9 × USB-C (EK631USB.1,5) if part of your fleet uses USB-C cables.
