The EFB-Elektronik EK498.1.8 is a 1.8-metre mains lead with a UK BS 1363A three-pin plug at one end and an IEC 60320 C7 figure-of-eight connector at the other, rated 2.5 A at 250 V and fitted with a 3 A fuse. Because Cyprus uses the same BS 1363 socket standard as the UK and Ireland, it goes straight into a normal wall socket here — no adapter. The C7 end is the small two-pin connector found on double-insulated equipment: two-pin laptop power bricks, printers, radios, televisions, monitors, games consoles and powered speakers. It is the sensible replacement when the original lead has been lost, damaged or borrowed. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The plug is BS 1363A — the same three-pin standard used in Cyprus, the UK, Ireland, Malta, Singapore and Malaysia — and it is fitted with a 3 A fuse. The device end is IEC 60320 C7, the two-pin “figure-of-eight” connector, which mates with a C8 inlet. Check your equipment before ordering: this is not the larger three-pin C13 kettle lead, and not the three-pin C5 “cloverleaf” used by many laptop power supplies. Most importantly, the cable has two conductors and no earth, so it is only for double-insulated Class II equipment — if your device has an earthed three-pin inlet, this is the wrong lead and using an adapter to force it would remove the earth. Maximum load is 2.5 A at 250 V, roughly 575 W. Reaction-to-fire class Dca under the EU Construction Products Regulation. Indoor use only.

Replacement mains leads are one of the few purchases where getting the connector right is the entire decision, and C7 is the one most often ordered by mistake — people see a small connector on a laptop brick and assume figure-of-eight when it is actually the three-pin C5 cloverleaf. Turn the device over and count the holes before ordering. The other thing worth knowing is that the missing earth is deliberate, not a cost saving: C7 exists for Class II double-insulated equipment, and that is the only place it belongs. Skip it if
Your device has an earthed C14 inlet, which needs a C13 lead; the inlet is the three-pin C5 cloverleaf rather than the two-pin figure-of-eight; the equipment draws more than 2.5 A; or you are plugging into a Schuko outlet on a rack PDU rather than a Cypriot wall socket.
