The EFB-Elektronik HDMI-20-00010 is a 50 m active optical HDMI cable (AOC) for HDMI 2.0 sources and displays, transmitting 4K at 60 Hz with up to 18 Gbit/s bandwidth over fibre instead of copper. It is built for AV installers, conference rooms, digital signage and home cinemas where a normal copper HDMI cable cannot reach reliably.

An integrated signal-conversion chip in the plugs turns the HDMI signal into light and back, so the picture stays stable over the full length and is immune to electrical interference. The plugs have zinc alloy shells with gold-plated contacts and are laser-marked Source and Display.

Supported features listed by EFB include HDCP 2.2, HDR, 12-bit Deep Color, 3D, ARC and CEC, and the cable ships in plastic-free cardboard packaging.

Compatibility Note: This AOC is directional: connect the end marked Source to the player/PC and the end marked Display to the TV or projector — reversed, there is no picture. It is HDMI 2.0 (4K@60Hz, 18 Gbit/s) and does not support 4K@120Hz, 8K or eARC.

Does the HDMI-20-00010 need an external power supply?
EFB lists it as powered from the HDMI port, and no separate power adapter is included. The active chip draws its power from the source device.
Can I plug either end into the TV?
No. Active optical HDMI cables work in one direction only. The plug marked Source goes to the player, PC or AV receiver output and the plug marked Display goes to the TV, projector or monitor.
Is the HDMI-20-00010 suitable for 4K 120Hz gaming or 8K?
No. It is an HDMI 2.0 cable rated for 4K at 60 Hz and 18 Gbit/s. For 4K@120Hz or 8K you need an Ultra High Speed (48 Gbit/s) HDMI 2.1 cable.
