EPOS IMPACT SC 230 — Mono Desk-Phone Headset with Easy Disconnect

Mono on-ear, 58 gEasy Disconnect couplingDesk phones, not USBBottom cable sold separately

The EPOS IMPACT SC 230, article 1000514, is a single-sided corded headset for desk phones. It ends in an Easy Disconnect coupling, so you unplug at the coupling to leave your desk without taking the headset off. At 58 grams with a metal-reinforced headband and the CircleFlex dual-hinge ear cup, it is built for a full shift on a phone. EPOS publishes this today as IMPACT SC 230; the older Sennheiser-era name for the same product was SC 230, article 504401.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this before ordering: the bottom cable is not in the box. An Easy Disconnect coupling cannot plug into anything on its own, and EPOS ships this headset without a cable. As supplied, it connects to nothing. You need an ED bottom cable matched to your phone: for a standard desk phone with an RJ9 headset port that is normally the EPOS CSTD 01, article 1000836; for a PC it is the CEDPC 1 (1000858); for remote answering it is a brand-specific EHS cable such as the CEHS-CI 01 for Cisco (1000746) or CEHS-PO 01 for Polycom (1000750). Tell us your phone make and model and we will confirm which cable you need and supply it with the headset. Second warning: this is not the USB headset. The almost identically named IMPACT SC 230 USB MS II, article 1000578, is the USB-A softphone model that works out of the box. A search for EPOS SC 230 returns both.

Best For

✓ Desk-phone positions in contact centres and offices
✓ Sites already standardised on EPOS Easy Disconnect cabling
✓ Reception desks where staff step away from the phone often
✓ Rooms where one ear must stay open to the room
✓ Fleets replacing worn headsets on existing ED cables
✓ Installations that will add an EHS cable for remote answering

Key Features

Easy Disconnect, the point of the design
Unplug at the coupling and walk away without removing the headset or unplugging the phone. On a shared desk, the next person brings their own headset and clicks into the same cable.

CircleFlex dual-hinge ear cup
The cup pivots on two hinges so it follows the shape of the head rather than pressing on one point, on a metal-reinforced headband at just 58 grams.

Noise-cancelling microphone
A bendable and pivoting boom with a noise-cancelling element across a 150 Hz to 6,800 Hz wideband path, so the caller hears you rather than the office.

EPOS ActiveGard hearing protection
Limits sound pressure to 103 dB over the ED connection and guards against sudden acoustic bursts, with EU Noise at Work compliance at an 85 dB daily average.

Warranty
Warranty 1-Year Warranty (Singular)
Manufacturer Term EPOS publishes a two-year warranty for the IMPACT 200 Series in its own fact sheet. It is a published manufacturer term that happens to be two years, not the statutory EU consumer period. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I plug this in when it arrives?
Not on its own. The headset ends in an Easy Disconnect coupling and EPOS does not include the bottom cable that runs from that coupling to your phone. You need one ED cable matched to the phone — usually the CSTD 01 (article 1000836) for a standard RJ9 headset port. Tell us the phone model and we will add the right cable to the order so it works on day one.
Which cable do I need for my phone?
It depends on the phone and on whether you want remote answering. For a plain RJ9 headset port, the CSTD 01 (1000836) is the standard coiled cable. For a PC, the CEDPC 1 (1000858) ends in two 3.5 mm jacks. For lifting and dropping calls from the headset you need a brand-specific EHS cable — CEHS-CI 01 for Cisco, CEHS-PO 01 for Polycom, and others for other brands. Send us the model and we will check it rather than guess.
Is this the USB version?
No, and this is the most common mix-up in the range. IMPACT SC 230 (1000514) is this desk-phone headset with an Easy Disconnect coupling. IMPACT SC 230 USB MS II (1000578) is the USB-A headset for computers, complete and plug-and-play. The names differ only by the suffix. Order by article number.
Does it have mute and volume buttons?
No. Easy Disconnect headsets have no in-line control unit — no mute button, no volume buttons and no LED. Those controls come from the desk phone itself, or from an EHS cable that lets the headset answer and end calls remotely. If you want buttons on the cable, you want a USB model instead.
Singular Expert Insight
The SC 230 is a good, light desk-phone headset, and Easy Disconnect is genuinely useful on a shared or busy desk. But there is one thing you must not miss: the cable to your phone is a separate purchase, and without it this headset does not connect to anything at all. That single fact causes more returns in this category than any spec. Send us the phone make and model with your order and we will match the cable — usually the CSTD 01, sometimes an EHS cable if you want to answer from the headset. The second trap is the name: EPOS sells an IMPACT SC 230 and an IMPACT SC 230 USB MS II, and only the second one is a USB headset that works out of the box. If your desks are moving to softphones anyway, look at the USB models in our office and VoIP headsets range instead.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You have desk phones, you either already use EPOS Easy Disconnect cables or will order the matching bottom cable with this headset, and staff need one ear open to the room.

Skip it if

Your users are on softphones rather than desk phones, or you need mute and volume buttons on the cable. Both point to the USB model, IMPACT SC 230 USB MS II, article 1000578.

Also consider

The EPOS CSTD 01 bottom cable (1000836) for a standard RJ9 desk phone, and the double-sided IMPACT SC 260 (1000515) if both ears should be covered.
