Equip E2000/APC-LC/APC Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable, OS2 Single-Mode 9/125, 20m, LSZH, Yellow
The Equip 255108 is a 20 m duplex E2000/APC-to-LC/APC single-mode OS2 (9/125 µm) fibre patch cable with a LSZH jacket in yellow, for connecting APC single-mode (PON/FTTH) equipment in switches, routers, media converters and patch panels.
Duplex means two fibres in one cord: one transmits and one receives, which is what almost every SFP module and media converter expects. The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket gives off little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire, which is why it is the usual choice for offices, server rooms and shared spaces.
What's in the Box
- 1 × E2000/APC to LC/APC duplex fibre cable, 20 m
What It Means in Practice
- APC (8° angled) end faces on both ends give very high return loss, which is what PON/GPON, FTTH and RF-over-fibre (CATV) systems require. APC connectors are normally green.
- Typical use: from an E2000/APC port on an operator or building distribution frame to an LC/APC panel, ONT or optical module in your rack.
- E2000/APC: push-pull connector with a spring-loaded shutter over the ferrule, typical on telecom distribution frames and FTTH panels
- LC: the small-form-factor connector used by SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and QSFP transceivers and most modern patch panels
- Colour code: yellow is the usual jacket colour for single-mode fibre, so the run is easy to tell apart in a shared rack.
- Handling: keep the dust caps on until you plug in, clean the end faces before mating, and route the cable without sharp bends or tight ties — most "dead" fibre links are a dirty connector or a kinked cord, not a faulty cable.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode SR/SX transceivers (850 nm) — they need OM3/OM4 multimode cable; single-mode cable will not give a reliable link with them.
- UPC ports, couplers or cords (usually blue) — APC must only meet APC. Most standard data-centre LR SFP modules are LC/UPC, so check your module before ordering.
- Two E2000/APC ports or two LC/APC ports — this cord joins one E2000/APC port to one LC/APC port; for same-connector links choose an E2000/APC-E2000/APC or LC/APC-LC/APC cord.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or a media converter at each end.
