The equip 255412 is a duplex OM3 multimode fibre optic patch cable (50/125µm) with LC connectors on both ends, 2m long with an LSZH jacket. It is made for connecting switches, servers, media converters and fibre patch panels inside racks, server rooms and data centres over short multimode runs.

The jacket follows the standard colour code (aqua for OM3), so the cord is easy to identify in a mixed rack. LC is the small push-latch connector used on SFP/SFP+ optics, on most current switch and server ports and on high-density patch panels.

• 50/125µm multimode is driven by 850 nm short-reach optics (1000BASE-SX, 10GBASE-SR and similar). OM3 is the bandwidth grade; the reach of your link depends on the transceivers and the whole channel.
• The manufacturer rates it for 10G Ethernet up to 300 m.
• Duplex means two fibres — one transmits, one receives. If a link does not come up, the usual cause is crossed polarity: reverse the two connectors at one end.
• The LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is meant for indoor use where fire safety matters: in a fire it gives off less smoke and no corrosive halogen gases.
• At 2m, it suits patching between neighbouring rack units or adjacent racks.

• Single-mode transceivers or single-mode panels (LX, LR, OS1/OS2) — multimode cable cannot be used on single-mode links.
• Ports with a different connector type — this cord has LC on both ends only; for SC or ST ports you need a cable with those connectors.
• Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or media converter at each end.
• Outdoor, underground or direct-burial runs — this is an indoor patch cable.
