Equip LC to LC OM3 Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable — 3 m

OM3 MultimodeLC ↔ LC duplex3 m · LSZHAqua jacket

The Equip 255413 is a 3 m duplex OM3 multimode fiber optic patch cable with LC connectors on both ends, built on 50/125 µm fiber with ceramic ferrules and an LSZH jacket — for linking SFP/SFP+ transceivers to each other or to an LC patch panel in racks, server rooms and data centres.

OM3 is laser-optimised 50/125 µm multimode fiber (aqua) — the standard choice for 10 Gigabit short-reach links with 850 nm SR transceivers inside racks, server rooms and between nearby cabinets. Manufacturer-published performance: 10G Ethernet up to 300 m.

Connectors: LC (small form factor — the connector of SFP/SFP+ and most duplex transceivers).

Before you order: Multimode 50/125 µm only — match the transceiver type (SR / multimode) and the fiber grade already installed. Check that the ports are LC and LC.

What's in the Box

  • Equip LC/LC duplex OM3 fiber optic patch cable, 3 m (1 piece)

What It Means in Practice

  • Duplex = two fibers in one cable: one transmits, one receives. One cable connects one duplex port to one duplex port.
  • 3 m covers patching across a rack or to the next cabinet.
  • LSZH jacket: low smoke, zero halogen — the usual requirement for cabling in offices, server rooms and public buildings.

What Will Not Work

  • Single-mode optics (LR/LX, 1310/1550 nm) or single-mode (yellow) infrastructure — multimode and single-mode fiber cannot be mixed.
  • 62.5/125 µm OM1 links — the core sizes differ and the joint causes high loss.
  • Copper RJ45 ports — fiber needs an optical transceiver (SFP module) or a fiber port on the device.
  • Single-fiber BiDi transceivers or simplex-only ports — this is a duplex (two-fiber) cable.
  • SC or ST ports — this cable is LC to LC; check the port at both ends before ordering.

Key Features

50/125 µm OM3
OM3 is laser-optimised 50/125 µm multimode fiber (aqua) — the standard choice for 10 Gigabit short-reach links with 850 nm SR transceivers inside racks, server rooms and between nearby cabinets..

Ceramic ferrules
Ceramic ferrules keep the fiber precisely aligned for consistent, low-loss mating — the standard for quality patch cords.

LSZH jacket
Low smoke, zero halogen sheath for indoor installations where fire-safety rules apply.

Duplex LC/LC
Two fibers in one jacket, LC on one end and LC on the other, for one duplex port-to-port connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it with a single-mode (LR/LX) SFP module?
No. The fiber type of the cable must match the transceiver: this multimode cable needs multimode optics such as SR (850 nm).
The link does not come up — what should I check?
First polarity: in a duplex link the transmit fiber at one end must reach the receive port at the other. Then confirm both transceivers are the same type and that the connector end faces are clean — dust is the most common cause of a weak or dead fiber link.
Is 3 m the right length?
Measure the real route including slack for cable management. Too short strains the connectors; extra fiber should be coiled loosely, never kinked or pulled tight. We can source other lengths of the same cable — just ask.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most fiber problems we see are not the cable but a mismatch: single-mode cable on multimode optics, an LC cable where the panel is SC, or OM1 mixed into a 50 µm link. Read the transceiver label (SR = multimode, LR/LX = single-mode) and look at the port shape at both ends before you order. If you are still choosing hardware, see our switches with SFP ports.
✓ Buy it if you need a 3 m OM3 duplex link between LC and LC ports with multimode optics.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are single-mode (LR/LX), your ports are not LC/LC, or you need a single-fiber BiDi link.
→ Also consider the same cable in another length, or an OS2 single-mode cable for longer runs with LR/LX optics.
Not sure which fiber you have? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or patch panel and we will check compatibility before you order.
