equip LC to SC OM4 Duplex Fibre Patch Cable, 3 m
OM4 multimodeLC ↔ SC3 mLSZH Violet
The equip 255533 is a 3 m duplex OM4 multimode 50/125 µm fibre optic patch cable with an LC connector on one end and SC on the other, for linking switches, servers, media converters and patch panels in racks and comms rooms.
OM4 is the higher-bandwidth grade of 50/125 µm multimode fibre, recognised by its heather (erica) violet jacket. It uses the same 850 nm SR optics as OM3 but reaches further: IEEE specifies OM4 for 10GBASE-SR up to 400 m and 25GBASE-SR up to 100 m.
What's in the Box
- 1 × LC-SC duplex fibre optic patch cable, 3 m (package contents as listed by the manufacturer)
What It Means in Practice
- At 3 m it reaches between neighbouring racks or across a small comms room.
- Duplex means two fibres in one cable: one carries transmit and the other receive, so one cable completes one link between two transceivers.
- Because one end is LC and the other SC, it connects two different port types directly, for example an SFP/SFP+ transceiver to an SC patch panel or media converter, with no coupler or adapter in between.
- The LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is the usual requirement in offices, data centres and public buildings: in a fire it gives off little smoke and no corrosive halogen gas.
- Keep the end faces covered until you plug in: a dirty connector is the most common reason a new fibre link does not come up.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode optics (LX, LR, ER at 1310/1550 nm): they need an OS2 single-mode cable, not multimode.
- Links that are not LC on one side and SC on the other: check both ports before you order.
- Copper RJ45 ports: fibre needs an optical transceiver or a media converter at each end.
- MPO/MTP ports (40G/100G SR4 parallel optics): they use multi-fibre trunk cables, not duplex patch cords.
Key Features
OM4 multimode fibre
OM4 50/125 µm multimode for 850 nm optics; IEEE specifies OM4 for 10GBASE-SR up to 400 m and 25GBASE-SR up to 100 m.
LC and SC connectors
LC plugs into an SFP/SFP+ transceiver; SC plugs into an SC patch panel or media converter.
LSZH jacket
low smoke, zero halogen sheath in violet (heather / erica violet), the colour code for OM4.
Ceramic ferrules
Ceramic ferrules on every connector for precise fibre alignment and repeatable mating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords rarely fail on quality; they fail because the grade or the connector does not match the port. Check three things before you order: the fibre type your transceivers expect (multimode SR/SX for this cable), the connector on each port, and UPC versus APC. If you are adding optics too, see our network switches with SFP/SFP+ ports.
✓ Buy it if you need a 3 m OM4 link between LC and SC ports.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are single-mode (LX/LR): you need an OS2 cable.
→ Also consider equip OM4 patch cables in other lengths and connector pairs: ask us for the exact code.
Not sure which cable you need? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or patch panel and we will confirm fibre type and connectors before you order.
