equip LC to ST OS2 Duplex Fibre Patch Cable, 1 m
OS2 single-modeLC ↔ ST1 mLSZH Yellow
The equip 254231 is a 1 m duplex OS2 single-mode 9/125 µm fibre optic patch cable with an LC connector on one end and ST on the other, for linking switches, servers, media converters and patch panels in racks and comms rooms.
OS2 is low-loss 9/125 µm single-mode fibre with a yellow jacket, used with 1310/1550 nm optics. With single-mode, the distance is set by the transceivers, not the cable (LR optics typically cover 10 km).
What's in the Box
- 1 × LC-ST duplex fibre optic patch cable, 1 m (package contents as listed by the manufacturer)
What It Means in Practice
- At 1 m it suits patching inside one rack: switch to patch panel, or server to top-of-rack switch.
- Duplex means two fibres in one cable: one carries transmit and the other receive, so one cable completes one link between two transceivers.
- Because one end is LC and the other ST, it connects two different port types directly, for example an SFP/SFP+ transceiver to an ST patch panel or older ST equipment, with no coupler or adapter in between.
- The LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is the usual requirement in offices, data centres and public buildings: in a fire it gives off little smoke and no corrosive halogen gas.
- Keep the end faces covered until you plug in: a dirty connector is the most common reason a new fibre link does not come up.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode optics (SX, SR at 850 nm): they need an OM3 or OM4 multimode cable.
- APC ports (green connectors), common on FTTH/PON and CATV equipment: they need an APC cable, not this UPC one.
- Links that are not LC on one side and ST on the other: check both ports before you order.
- Copper RJ45 ports: fibre needs an optical transceiver or a media converter at each end.
Key Features
OS2 single-mode fibre
9/125 µm single-mode for 1310/1550 nm optics; the distance is set by the transceivers, not the cable (LR optics typically cover 10 km).
LC and ST connectors
LC plugs into an SFP/SFP+ transceiver; ST plugs into an ST patch panel or older ST equipment.
LSZH jacket
low smoke, zero halogen sheath in yellow, the colour code for OS2.
Ceramic ferrules
Ceramic ferrules on every connector for precise fibre alignment and repeatable mating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords rarely fail on quality; they fail because the grade or the connector does not match the port. Check three things before you order: the fibre type your transceivers expect (single-mode LX/LR for this cable), the connector on each port, and UPC versus APC. If you are adding optics too, see our network switches with SFP/SFP+ ports.
✓ Buy it if you need a 1 m OS2 link between LC and ST ports.
✕ Skip it if your optics are multimode SR/SX, or your ports are APC.
→ Also consider equip OS2 patch cables in other lengths and connector pairs: ask us for the exact code.
Not sure which cable you need? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or patch panel and we will confirm fibre type and connectors before you order.
