equip LC/APC–LC/APC OS2 fibre optic patch cable, 5m
OS2 single-modeLC/APC–LC/APC5mLSZH
The equip 255945 is a simplex OS2 single-mode fibre optic patch cable (9/125µm) with LC connectors on both ends (APC polish), 5m long with an LSZH jacket and internal spiral armour. It is made for connecting switches, servers, media converters and fibre patch panels in building backbones, telecom rooms and long single-mode links.
The jacket follows the standard colour code (white for OS2), so the cord is easy to identify in a mixed rack. LC is the small push-latch connector used on SFP/SFP+ optics, on most current switch and server ports and on high-density patch panels.
Before you order: APC connectors (8° angled polish, green). Use this cord only with APC ports and APC adapters — never mate it with UPC/PC (blue) connectors. It is a simplex (single-fibre) cord.
What's in the Box
- 1× equip LC/APC–LC/APC OS2 simplex fibre patch cable, 5m
- Transceivers, couplers and cleaning tools are not included
What It Means in Practice
- OS2 single-mode fibre carries the 1310/1550 nm light used by single-mode optics (1000BASE-LX, 10GBASE-LR and similar). The same cord type serves short patches and long backbone links — reach is set by the transceivers and the whole link, not by this cord.
- Simplex means one single fibre. A standard two-fibre transceiver needs two simplex cords or one duplex cord; a single simplex cord on its own suits BiDi (single-fibre) optics, splitters and PON/FTTH patching.
- APC (Angled Physical Contact) end faces are polished at 8°, keeping back reflection very low — the norm for FTTH/PON, CATV/RF-over-fibre and many telecom panels. APC connectors are green by convention.
- The internal spiral armour gives better resistance to crushing, bending and twisting than an ordinary patch cord, which helps in busy racks and cable trays; the 2.8 mm diameter still routes easily.
- The LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is meant for indoor use where fire safety matters: in a fire it gives off less smoke and no corrosive halogen gases.
- At 5m, it suits runs to the next rack or across a small room.
What Will Not Work
- Multimode transceivers (SX, SR, 850 nm) or multimode panels — a single-mode cord will not give a reliable link with them.
- UPC/PC ports (blue single-mode connectors) — APC must only mate with APC; mixing damages the end faces and causes high loss.
- Ports with a different connector type — this cord has LC on both ends only; for SC or ST ports you need a cable with those connectors.
- A standard two-fibre (duplex) transceiver with only this one cord — it needs two simplex cords or a duplex cord.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or media converter at each end.
- Outdoor, underground or direct-burial runs — this is an indoor patch cable.
Key Features
LC/APC–LC/APC connectors
LC is the small push-latch connector used on SFP/SFP+ optics, on most current switch and server ports and on high-density patch panels.
OS2 9/125µm
Single-mode OS2 fibre for 1310/1550 nm optics, from short patches to long backbone links.
LSZH jacket
Low smoke, zero halogen — for indoor use in racks, ceilings and offices.
Spiral armour, 2.8 mm
Armoured simplex construction resists crushing and kinking while staying thin enough for dense patching.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP/SFP+ module?
Yes, if the module is single-mode (LX, LR or similar, with APC connectors) with an LC port — check the module datasheet says SMF/single-mode. It will not work with SX/SR multimode modules.
My link does not come up — what should I check?
Check that the optics on both ends are a matching BiDi pair (or that the second fibre is in place for duplex optics), that both ends are APC, and that the end faces are clean.
Can I join two cords to get more length?
Yes, with a coupler of the same connector and fibre type, but every connection adds loss and another point to clean. For a permanent link choose a cord of the right length — tell us the distance and we will suggest one.
Is OS2 compatible with OS1?
Yes. Both are 9/125µm single-mode and use the same connectors; OS2 is the newer, lower-attenuation specification, so it works on OS1 links too.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The equip 255945 is a OS2 single-mode simplex cord. Two things decide whether it fits: the fibre type (single-mode, 9/125µm) and the connector at each end (LC and LC, APC). If you are connecting SFP-equipped
network switches or servers, check the module type and its connector first; everything else is length.
✓ Buy it if you need a 5m OS2 single-mode link with LC on both ends.
✕ Skip it if your optics or panels are multimode UPC/PC, or use a different connector.
→ Also consider the same cable in another length, or a multimode version if your optics are SX/SR — tell us the part you need.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your rack, switch or device and we will check compatibility before you order.
