Equip LC/APC to LC/APC Armored Fibre Cable · OS2 Single-mode Simplex · 10 m
OS2 9/125 µmLC/APC ↔ LC/APCSimplex · armored10 m · LSZH
The Equip 255906 is a 10 m simplex OS2 single-mode fibre cable with green LC/APC connectors on both ends and an internal spiral steel armour – built for links where the cable may be stepped on, pinched in a tray or routed through busy cable paths.
APC (angled physical contact) ends have an 8° polished face that keeps back-reflection very low, which is why they are used on FTTH/PON, CATV/RF-over-fibre and other analogue or high-sensitivity single-mode systems. Equip lists data centres, telecom rooms, enterprise and cloud networks as the applications. The jacket is halogen-free LSZH.
Before you order: This is a SIMPLEX (single-fibre) LC/APC cable. APC ports are green and only mate with APC connectors – it will not work in blue UPC ports. Standard duplex Ethernet SFPs need two fibres, so you would need two of these cables or a BiDi optic.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Equip LC/APC–LC/APC simplex armored fibre cable, 10 m
What It Means in Practice
- Both ends are LC/APC: the small push-latch LC connector with a green angled-polish ferrule – used on PON/FTTH ONTs and splitters, CATV fibre nodes and some high-end single-mode patch panels.
- Simplex means one fibre. It suits single-fibre systems (GPON/XGS-PON drops, BiDi optics, RF-over-fibre) – for a normal two-fibre Ethernet link order two cables.
- The internal spiral armour makes the cable much harder to crush or kink than a standard patch cord, so it can lie under raised floors, in shared trays or along walls with less protection.
- Single-mode OS2 is what long-reach and PON optics expect; at 10 m the cable length is never the distance limit.
What Will Not Work
- Not for blue UPC or beige multimode ports – mating APC with flat-polished (UPC/PC) connectors damages both ends and gives a very high loss.
- Not for a standard duplex SFP/SFP+ link on its own – those need two fibres (Tx and Rx).
- Not for multimode SR/SX optics (850 nm) – this is single-mode 9/125 µm fibre.
- Not for SC/APC equipment – it needs an SC/APC–LC/APC cable or a hybrid adapter.
Key Features
APC low back-reflection
Angled 8° polish keeps reflections away from the laser – the requirement for PON, CATV and other reflection-sensitive single-mode links.
Spiral armour
Internal spiral armour improves resistance to crushing, bending and twisting compared with standard fibre patch cables.
LSZH jacket
Low smoke, zero halogen – suitable for indoor technical rooms and offices.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with my ISP fibre box (ONT)?
If the ONT port is green (APC) and takes LC, yes. Most FTTH ONTs in Europe use SC/APC – check the port shape; for SC/APC you need a different cable.
Why is APC green?
Green is the industry colour for angled-polish connectors so they are never plugged into blue UPC ports by mistake.
Is armored cable OK indoors?
Yes – the armour is inside the LSZH jacket, so it is a normal indoor cable that simply survives rough handling better.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
APC simplex armored cords are specialist parts: they belong in PON/FTTH, CATV and single-fibre BiDi links, not in an ordinary switch-to-switch uplink. Get the polish (APC, green) and the connector (LC) right and the armour makes it a very forgiving cable to install. For a normal 10G uplink between
switches with SFP+ ports you want a duplex UPC cable instead.
✓ Buy it if your ports are green LC/APC, the system uses one fibre (PON, BiDi, RF-over-fibre) and the route needs a tougher cable.
✕ Skip it if your ports are blue UPC or SC/APC, or you are linking two standard duplex SFP/SFP+ modules.
→ Also consider a duplex OS2 LC–LC UPC cable for normal single-mode Ethernet uplinks – tell us the transceivers and we will match it.
