Equip SC to SC OM1 Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable — 5 m
OM1 MultimodeSC ↔ SC duplex5 m · LSZHOrange jacket
The Equip 253325 is a 5 m duplex OM1 multimode fiber optic patch cable with SC connectors on both ends, built on 62.5/125 µm fiber with ceramic ferrules and an LSZH jacket — for patching SC-port media converters, switches and SC patch panels.
OM1 is the legacy multimode grade with a 62.5 µm core, usually orange. It is still found in older buildings and campus backbones; choose it to match existing 62.5/125 µm cabling, not for new installations, where 50 µm OM3/OM4 is the norm.
Connectors: SC (square push-pull — common on media converters, older switches and SC panels/outlets).
Before you order: Multimode 62.5/125 µm only — match the transceiver type (SR / multimode) and the fiber grade already installed. Check that the ports are SC and SC.
What's in the Box
- Equip SC/SC duplex OM1 fiber optic patch cable, 5 m (1 piece)
- Individual measurement protocol (test report) for the cable
What It Means in Practice
- Duplex = two fibers in one cable: one transmits, one receives. One cable connects one duplex port to one duplex port.
- 5 m reaches between neighbouring cabinets or from a panel to equipment a few metres away.
- LSZH jacket: low smoke, zero halogen — the usual requirement for cabling in offices, server rooms and public buildings.
- Each cable ships with its own measurement protocol — useful for documentation and acceptance tests.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode optics (LR/LX, 1310/1550 nm) or single-mode (yellow) infrastructure — multimode and single-mode fiber cannot be mixed.
- 50/125 µm links (OM2/OM3/OM4/OM5) — joining 62.5 µm and 50 µm cores causes high loss.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fiber needs an optical transceiver (SFP module) or a fiber port on the device.
- Single-fiber BiDi transceivers or simplex-only ports — this is a duplex (two-fiber) cable.
- LC or ST ports — this cable is SC to SC; check the port at both ends before ordering.
Key Features
62.5/125 µm OM1
OM1 is the legacy multimode grade with a 62.5 µm core, usually orange.
Ceramic ferrules
Ceramic ferrules keep the fiber precisely aligned for consistent, low-loss mating — the standard for quality patch cords.
LSZH jacket
Low smoke, zero halogen sheath for indoor installations where fire-safety rules apply.
Tested, with report
Each cable is measured and supplied with its protocol, so you can document the link from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with a single-mode (LR/LX) SFP module?
No. The fiber type of the cable must match the transceiver: this multimode cable needs multimode optics such as SR (850 nm).
The link does not come up — what should I check?
First polarity: in a duplex link the transmit fiber at one end must reach the receive port at the other. Then confirm both transceivers are the same type and that the connector end faces are clean — dust is the most common cause of a weak or dead fiber link.
Is 5 m the right length?
Measure the real route including slack for cable management. Too short strains the connectors; extra fiber should be coiled loosely, never kinked or pulled tight. We can source other lengths of the same cable — just ask.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most fiber problems we see are not the cable but a mismatch: single-mode cable on multimode optics, an LC cable where the panel is SC, or OM1 mixed into a 50 µm link. Read the transceiver label (SR = multimode, LR/LX = single-mode) and look at the port shape at both ends before you order. If you are still choosing hardware, see our
switches with SFP ports.
✓ Buy it if you need a 5 m OM1 duplex link between SC and SC ports with multimode optics.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are single-mode (LR/LX), your ports are not SC/SC, or you need a single-fiber BiDi link.
→ Also consider the same cable in another length, or an OS2 single-mode cable for longer runs with LR/LX optics.
