The Equip 156145 is a pack of 12 SC duplex fiber optic couplers (adapters) for joining two SC/UPC multimode connectors — female on both sides — in patch panels, wall outlets, splice boxes and anywhere two SC patch cords must be extended or connected.
Each coupler has a phosphor bronze alignment sleeve and a dust cap, comes in beige, and is listed by Equip for OM1/OM2 multimode fiber. One coupler joins one duplex SC pair (two fibers); the 12-pack is sized for fitting out a panel or several outlets in one go.
Beige is the usual colour code for legacy multimode SC adapters, which makes them easy to tell apart from aqua (OM3/OM4) and blue/green (single-mode) adapters in the same rack.
Before you order: Equip lists these couplers for OM1/OM2 multimode. For single-mode links use single-mode (blue UPC / green APC) adapters, and check the panel cut-out fits SC duplex adapters before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- Female on both sides: plug an SC patch cord in from the front and another from the back to join them.
- Duplex: each coupler takes two SC connectors per side (one transmit, one receive fiber).
- In a patch panel the couplers form the front ports; behind them sit the pigtails or patch cords of the installed cabling.
- Every mated pair adds some loss — use couplers where the cabling design needs a joint, not to chain short cords together.
What Will Not Work
- LC, ST or MPO connectors — these couplers accept SC connectors only.
- APC (angled, green) connectors — this is a UPC coupler; APC and UPC must not be mated.
- Single-mode links that need low loss — Equip specifies these couplers for OM1/OM2 multimode.
- Panel cut-outs for simplex or LC quad adapters — check the cut-out size first.
