Equip LC-ST Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable, OM4 Multimode 50/125, 3m, LSZH, Violet
OM4 multimodeLC-ST duplex3 mLSZH
The Equip 255543 is a 3 m duplex LC-to-ST OM4 multimode (50/125 µm) fibre patch cable with a LSZH jacket in violet, for connecting SR/SX multimode optics in switches, routers, media converters and patch panels.
Duplex means two fibres in one cord: one transmits and one receives, which is what almost every SFP module and media converter expects. The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket gives off little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire, which is why it is the usual choice for offices, server rooms and shared spaces.
What's in the Box
- 1 × LC/ST duplex fibre patch cable, 3 m
- Measurement protocol
What It Means in Practice
- Multimode 50/125 fibre is for short-reach optics at 850 nm: SFP and SFP+ modules marked SR or SX. Per IEEE 802.3, 10GBASE-SR reaches up to 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4; 1000BASE-SX reaches 550 m on 50/125 fibre.
- OM3 and OM4 use the same 50/125 core and the same optics, so this cord can be mixed into an existing OM3 or OM4 link; the link simply performs to the lower grade.
- LC: the small-form-factor connector used by SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and QSFP transceivers and most modern patch panels
- ST: bayonet (twist-lock) connector found on older multimode and industrial equipment and legacy patch panels
- Colour code: violet is the usual jacket colour for OM4 fibre, so the run is easy to tell apart in a shared rack.
- Handling: keep the dust caps on until you plug in, clean the end faces before mating, and route the cable without sharp bends or tight ties — most "dead" fibre links are a dirty connector or a kinked cord, not a faulty cable.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode LX/LR transceivers (1310/1550 nm) — they need OS2 single-mode cable.
- 62.5/125 (OM1) cable, couplers or older equipment ports — the core sizes differ and the mismatch causes heavy loss in one direction.
- Two LC ports or two ST ports — this cord joins one LC port to one ST port; for same-connector links choose an LC-LC or ST-ST cord.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or a media converter at each end.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
A fibre cord has to match your equipment on three things: fibre type (multimode OM4), connector (LC / ST) and polish (UPC/PC). Before ordering, read the label on the SFP module (e.g. SR or SX) in your switch with SFP ports. Measure the route with some slack: fibre should never be pulled tight or bent sharply.
✓ Buy it if your optics are multimode SR/SX with LC and ST ports and the route is about 3 m.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are single-mode (LR/LX), or one end needs a different connector.
→ Also consider the single-mode OS2 version for LR optics, or a different length of the same cord.
Not sure which cord you need? Send us the model of your switch, SFP module or patch panel and we will check fibre type, connector and polish before you order.
