The equip 252232 is a duplex OS2 single-mode fibre optic patch cable (9/125µm) with ST connectors on both ends, 2m long with an LSZH jacket. It is made for connecting switches, servers, media converters and fibre patch panels in building backbones, telecom rooms and long single-mode links.

The jacket follows the standard colour code (yellow for OS2), so the cord is easy to identify in a mixed rack. ST is the round bayonet (twist-lock) connector found in older fibre installations and industrial equipment.

Before you order: This is a single-mode cable (OS2, 9/125µm). It works only with single-mode optics (LX/LR and similar) and single-mode panels — not with multimode SX/SR modules.

What It Means in Practice

  • OS2 single-mode fibre carries the 1310/1550 nm light used by single-mode optics (1000BASE-LX, 10GBASE-LR and similar). The same cord type serves short patches and long backbone links — reach is set by the transceivers and the whole link, not by this cord.
  • Duplex means two fibres — one transmits, one receives. If a link does not come up, the usual cause is crossed polarity: reverse the two connectors at one end.
  • The LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen) jacket is meant for indoor use where fire safety matters: in a fire it gives off less smoke and no corrosive halogen gases.
  • At 2m, it suits patching between neighbouring rack units or adjacent racks.
  • Each cable is supplied with a measurement protocol, per the manufacturer, so you have the measured values for your documentation.

What Will Not Work

  • Multimode transceivers (SX, SR, 850 nm) or multimode panels — a single-mode cord will not give a reliable link with them.
  • APC ports (green connectors, angled polish) — this is not an APC cord; mating non-APC and APC connectors damages the end faces and causes high loss.
  • Ports with a different connector type — this cord has ST on both ends only; for LC or SC ports you need a cable with those connectors.
  • Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or media converter at each end.
  • Outdoor, underground or direct-burial runs — this is an indoor patch cable.

Will it work with my SFP/SFP+ module?
SFP/SFP+ modules use LC ports. This cord has ST and ST connectors, so it is for panels, converters and older equipment — for an SFP port choose an LC version.
My link does not come up — what should I check?
First polarity: transmit must reach receive, so reverse the two connectors at one end. Then clean the end faces and confirm both transceivers are the same type (single-mode or multimode, same wavelength).
Can I join two cords to get more length?
Yes, with a coupler of the same connector and fibre type, but every connection adds loss and another point to clean. For a permanent link choose a cord of the right length — tell us the distance and we will suggest one.
Is OS2 compatible with OS1?
Yes. Both are 9/125µm single-mode and use the same connectors; OS2 is the newer, lower-attenuation specification, so it works on OS1 links too.
