Only if the drive has the narrow 5-pin Micro-B socket. USB 3.0 portable drives normally use the wider Micro-B 3.0 connector with an extra section, which this plug will not fill. USB 2.0 drives, cameras, headsets and older phones are the right match.
Is there a version of this cable for a USB-A computer?
Yes — if the host has USB-A rather than USB-C, you need a standard USB-A to Micro-B cable. Within this equip series, the 12888107 covers USB-A to USB-C and the 12888307 covers USB-C to USB-C.
