Equip 128345 USB-A to USB-C Cable — 5 Gbit/s, 0.5 m
USB 3.2 Gen 15 Gbit/sup to 3 A0.5 m
The Equip 128345 is a 0.5 m USB-A to USB-C cable with up to 5 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen 1) data transfer and charging current up to 3 A, made for anyone connecting a USB-C phone, tablet, drive or accessory to a computer, charger, car socket or hub that has USB-A ports.
At 5 Gbit/s the cable is fast enough for external hard drives, SATA SSD enclosures, USB 3 card readers and most portable storage, so backups and large copies run at the speed of the drive rather than being held back by the cable.
Before you order, check two things: the socket on your device must be USB-C (not Micro-USB or Lightning), and the port you plug into must be USB-A. If both your charger and your device are USB-C, a USB-C to USB-C cable is the better buy because it supports USB Power Delivery.
Before you order: USB-A carries no USB Power Delivery and no video. How fast a device charges depends on the USB-A port or charger you plug into — the cable cannot add watts the port does not supply.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Equip USB 3.2 Gen 1 C to A cable, 0.5 m
What It Means in Practice
- Length 0.5 m: short — tidy on a desk, next to a laptop, power bank or car socket; too short to use a phone comfortably while it charges from a wall socket.
- Charging: charging current up to 3 A — enough for phones, tablets, earbuds and controllers from a standard USB-A charger or computer port.
- Works with wall chargers, PCs, laptops, car sockets, power banks and USB hubs that have USB-A ports.
- Plug-and-play: no driver needed on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android or iPadOS.
What Will Not Work
- No video: it will not drive a USB-C monitor, portable display or projector — USB-A has no DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- No USB Power Delivery: a USB-C laptop that needs 45–100 W will charge very slowly or not at all from a USB-A port through this cable.
- Not a Thunderbolt or USB4 cable, and it will not turn a USB-A port into a USB-C port for USB-C-only chargers.
- Do not order it by mistake instead of the 0.25 m version (128343) — same cable, different length.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fast-charge my USB-C laptop?
Usually not. Laptops charge over USB Power Delivery, which needs a USB-C charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable. From a USB-A port you get standard USB charging, which can at best slow the battery drain on some laptops.
Does it work with an iPhone 15 or newer?
Yes — iPhone 15 and later use USB-C, so the cable charges and syncs them from a USB-A charger, computer or car socket at standard USB speed.
Will it work in a USB 2.0 or USB 3 port?
Yes. USB is backward compatible: the cable works in any USB-A port and the connection runs at the slower of the port, cable and device speeds.
Can I use it in the car?
Yes, in any USB-A car socket or 12 V USB-A adapter. Charging speed depends on the socket: many built-in car ports give only 0.5–1 A.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Short 5 Gbit/s cables are the cleanest way to connect a portable drive, SSD enclosure or card reader to a laptop or hub without a loop of cable on the desk. This Equip one is double shielded and 28 AWG, so it keeps full USB 3 speed at 0.5 m. If you are pairing it with storage, match the cable to the drive — see our
external hard drives.
✓ Buy it if you want a short, tidy USB 3 cable for a drive, enclosure, reader or phone next to a laptop, PC or hub.
✕ Skip it if you need 10 Gbit/s for a fast NVMe SSD, or the device is more than 0.5 m from the port.
→ Also consider For a USB-C laptop or a USB-C charger, a USB-C to USB-C cable with Power Delivery; for drives, match the cable speed to the drive.
