The Ergotron LX Pro is the redesign of the LX, and the 45-686-292 is the side-by-side dual configuration in black. Two arms rise from a short pole on a two-piece desk clamp, joined by a T-bracket so the screens sit level next to each other. What is new on the Pro is the modularity and the tension-level indicator: the arms, extensions, pivots, poles and bases are separate parts that can be reconfigured, and the counterbalance setting can be read off a scale instead of being found by feel.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Ergotron rates this configuration for two screens up to 27 inches, with each display weighing 4 to 20 lbs (1.8 to 9 kg) and a total of 8 to 40 lbs (3.6 to 18.1 kg). Displays deeper than 9 cm may reduce the usable capacity. VESA is MIS-D 100/75, meaning 100 x 100 and 75 x 75 mm. Ergotron notes that the 27-inch figure is approximate and may be exceeded if the display stays inside the weight limit, though larger screens will have a reduced range of motion. Mounting is by the supplied two-piece desk clamp.

The tension-level indicator gives a visual reference when counterbalancing an arm against its display. Fit the first arm, note the number, and every arm after it takes seconds instead of trial and error.
Three-point panning with a built-in stop
Overall side-to-side motion is 360 degrees, split across three turning points: 360 at the base and extension, 360 at the extension and arm, and 180 at the arm and pivot. A built-in rotation stop can restrict the base joint to 180 degrees so the arm cannot swing into a wall or a colleague.
85 degrees of tilt
Tilt runs 70 degrees backward and 15 degrees forward, which is more range than the original LX and enough to angle a screen properly for a standing user or a shared view.
Modular by design
Arms, extensions, pivots, poles, brackets and bases are separate components. A side-by-side pair can later become a stacked pair, or take a laptop tray, without replacing the whole product.
64 cm of reach

Two things separate the LX Pro from the original LX, and both matter more on a fleet than on a single desk. The first is the tension indicator, which turns arm setup from a fiddly process into a repeatable one; if you are fitting twenty desks, this is the feature that pays for the product. The second is modularity: the poles, bases, brackets and pivots are separate parts, so a side-by-side pair can later become a stacked pair or take a laptop tray without a new purchase. What has not changed is the thing people get wrong: the 1.8 kg minimum. Very light 24-inch panels drift upward on a counterbalanced arm, and no amount of adjustment fixes it. Weigh the screen with its stand removed before you order.
