The Fellowes Powershred LX25 is a cross-cut paper shredder that turns up to 6 sheets of A4 per pass into 4 x 37 mm particles at DIN 66399 security level P-4, with a 11.5 L waste bin — built for occasional home and home-office use by one person.
P-4 is the level most offices choose for documents carrying personal or confidential data: contracts, payslips, bank statements, customer records. Each A4 page ends up as about 419 particles, which is far beyond what anyone would try to reassemble. It also shreds staples, small paper clips and credit cards, so you do not need to prepare documents before feeding them.
Before you order: Rated run time is 3 minutes, followed by a 30-minute cool-down. This is a manual-feed shredder for 1 user — if you need to clear archive boxes or share it across a team, look at an auto-feed model instead.

What It Means in Practice
- Up to 6 sheets per pass is rated on 70 g/m² A4. With standard 80 g/m² office paper, feed one or two sheets fewer to avoid stalls.
- Credit cards go in one at a time; staples and small paper clips can stay on the paper.
- Running 3 minutes at 2 m/min is enough for a day’s post and printouts; after that the motor needs 30 minutes to cool.
- The Safety Lock switch disables the shredder when it is not in use, so it cannot be started accidentally.
- The shredder head lifts off the bin for emptying; fit a bag in the bin if you want cleaner emptying.
What Will Not Work
- CDs, DVDs and other optical media — not supported on this model
- Adhesive labels, transparencies, laminated sheets, cardboard, newspaper and continuous forms
- Large paper clips and binder clips — remove them first
- Continuous shredding beyond 3 minutes — the motor needs its 30-minute cool-down
- Auto-feed: every sheet is fed by hand
