The Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE X3D is an ATX motherboard for AMD Socket AM5 with the X870E chipset, built for Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 desktop processors and aimed at gaming and workstation builds that want PCIe 5.0 for both the graphics card and NVMe storage.

It carries four DDR5 slots (up to 256GB, EXPO and XMP profiles), a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, four M.2 sockets of which two run from the CPU at PCIe 5.0, two USB4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort output, Realtek 5GbE LAN and Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4.

Before you order: Ryzen 8000 (Phoenix) processors reduce the main x16 slot to PCIe 4.0 x8 or x4 and disable the second CPU M.2 socket (M2B_CPU). Using M2B_CPU also shares bandwidth with the USB4 controller (both run at x2). Wi-Fi 7 needs Windows 11 — there is no Windows 10 Wi-Fi driver.

  • 5GbE LAN plus Wi-Fi 7 (320 MHz channels on 6 GHz) gives fast wired and wireless networking without add-in cards.
  • Four 4-pin system fan headers plus two fan/pump headers make it suitable for AIO and custom-loop cooling.

Yes. It supports Ryzen 9000 Series processors on AM5; Gigabyte recommends checking its CPU support list for the minimum BIOS version.
Can I use my DDR4 kit?
No. The board accepts only DDR5 non-ECC unbuffered modules.
Do I need a graphics card?
Only if your Ryzen has no integrated graphics. With integrated graphics, video comes out of the USB4 ports and HDMI.
