Gigabyte AORUS Gen5 14000 SSD 4TB — PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280

PCIe 5.0 x4 · NVMe 2.0Up to 14,100 MB/s read4TB · 3D TLC5-year / 3000 TBW

The Gigabyte AORUS Gen5 14000 SSD 4TB (part number AG514K4TB) is a PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 drive with sequential reads up to 14,100 MB/s, aimed at gamers, content creators and workstation builders who want Gen5 speed and a large capacity in one slot.

It pairs the Phison PS5026-E26 controller with 232-layer 3D TLC NAND and an 8GB LPDDR4 DRAM cache, so sustained transfers, large project files and game installs stay fast. Endurance is rated at 3000 TBW with a limited 5-year warranty.

Compatibility note: The drive ships bare, without its own heatsink — Gigabyte states it must be used under a motherboard M.2 heatsink to avoid thermal throttling. Full speed needs a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot (e.g. AMD X870/X870E/B850/B650E or Intel Z890); in a PCIe 4.0 slot it works at Gen4 speeds.

Key Features

Phison E26 Gen5 controller
12 nm PCIe 5.0 x4 controller with 8 NAND channels and NVMe 2.0 support — roughly double the bandwidth of a fast PCIe 4.0 drive.

8GB DRAM cache + TLC NAND
A dedicated 8GB LPDDR4 cache and 232-layer 3D TLC NAND keep random access and long writes consistent, unlike DRAM-less budget drives.

High endurance
3000 TBW and 1.6 million hours MTBF, backed by a limited 5-year warranty (whichever limit comes first) and monitored via GIGABYTE Control Center / SSD Toolbox.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AORUS Gen5 14000 4TB work in a PCIe 4.0 motherboard?
Yes. PCIe is backward compatible, so the drive runs in any M.2 2280 NVMe (M-key) slot, but in a PCIe 4.0 slot it is limited to Gen4 bandwidth of roughly 7,000 MB/s.
What is the difference between the 4TB and the 2TB AORUS Gen5 14000?
The 2TB model (AG514K2TB) is rated slightly higher at 14,500 / 12,700 MB/s, while the 4TB model trades a few hundred MB/s for double the capacity and higher total endurance — the better choice for large game libraries and 4K/8K video projects.
Is the AORUS Gen5 14000 suitable for a PlayStation 5?
It is not recommended: the PS5 slot is PCIe 4.0 and the console requires a drive with a heatsink or cover-compatible cooling, while this model ships bare and is designed for PC motherboard heatsinks.

Singular Expert Insight

This is one of the fastest consumer Gen5 drives with a proper DRAM cache, and the 4TB size makes it a sensible single boot-plus-library drive for a new AM5 or Intel Z890 build. If your board lacks a Gen5 M.2 slot or a heatsink, a PCIe 4.0 drive gives almost the same real-world gaming feel for less money — see our internal SSD range.
✓ Buy it if you have a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot with a heatsink and want 4TB of top-tier sequential speed for games, video or AI datasets.
✕ Skip it if your motherboard only has PCIe 4.0 slots or no M.2 heatsink — you would pay for speed you cannot use.
→ Also consider the 2TB AG514K2TB for a smaller, slightly faster boot drive, or a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for older platforms.
