Gigabyte X870E AORUS MASTER X3D — flagship AM5 ATX for Ryzen X3D builds
AMD X870E · Socket AM5DDR5 up to 9000 MT/s (OC)10GbE + 5GbE · Wi-Fi 72x USB4 · 5x M.2
The Gigabyte X870E AORUS MASTER X3D (part number X870E A MASTER X) is a flagship ATX motherboard for AMD Socket AM5, built around the X870E chipset for Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 processors and tuned especially for Ryzen X3D gaming CPUs.
An 18+2+2 twin digital VRM on an 8-layer, 2x-copper PCB feeds high-core-count chips, while four DDR5 slots support up to 256GB and overclocked kits up to 9000 MT/s. Storage is generous with five M.2 slots, two of them PCIe 5.0 x4 from the CPU.
Networking combines Realtek 10GbE and 5GbE ports with MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 (320 MHz) and Bluetooth 5.4, and the rear panel carries two USB4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort output, a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C and seven 10 Gbps USB-A ports. The ALC1220 codec with an ESS ES9118 DAC handles audio.
Compatibility note: The second M.2 Gen5 slot (M2B_CPU) shares lanes with the USB4 controller — populating it drops both to x2. Filling the PCIEX8 slot runs the main graphics slot at x8, and the chipset PCIe x4 slot is disabled when M2D_SB is used. Wi-Fi 7 needs Windows 11 (no Windows 10 driver). Ryzen 8000 (Phoenix) CPUs lose the PCIEX8 slot and M2B_CPU.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the X870E AORUS MASTER X3D a good match for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D?
Yes — it is designed for Ryzen X3D chips, with Gigabyte X3D Turbo Mode tuning in BIOS and strong VRM cooling. It also supports every Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 AM5 CPU after the appropriate BIOS.
Can I use all five M.2 slots at once?
Yes, but with trade-offs: M2B_CPU drops the USB4 ports and itself to x2, and M2D_SB disables the chipset PCIe x4 slot. Plan Gen5 drives for M2A_CPU first.
What is the difference from the X870 AORUS ELITE or B850 boards?
The Master X3D adds the X870E chipset (more lanes), a second PCIe 5.0 x16-length slot, 10GbE LAN, the ESS DAC and a heavier 18+2+2 VRM — worth it for enthusiasts, overkill for a mid-range gaming PC.
Does it have integrated graphics outputs?
Yes, the HDMI 2.1 port and the two USB4 ports carry DisplayPort video from the Radeon graphics built into Ryzen CPUs (not available on F-series-style chips without iGPU).
Singular Expert Insight
The Master X3D is a no-compromise AM5 board: dual Gen5 M.2, 10GbE and USB4 on one ATX PCB, with power delivery that will never limit a Ryzen 9. For a pure gaming build with one GPU and one or two SSDs, an X870 or B850 AORUS board delivers the same frame rates for much less. Pair it with fast DDR5 from our
memory range.
✓ Buy it if you are building a flagship Ryzen X3D or Ryzen 9 system and want 10GbE, dual USB4 and five M.2 slots without add-in cards.
✕ Skip it if you only need one GPU, one SSD and 2.5GbE — a B850 board covers that at a fraction of the price.
→ Also consider the X870 AORUS ELITE or X870 AORUS INFINITY for a lower price with Wi-Fi 7, or B850 A ELITE boards for mainstream builds.
