The Gigaset N870 IP PRO is a professional DECT multicell base station for SIP telephony, handling up to 10 simultaneous calls per base and scaling from a single base to systems of 60 bases and 250 handsets — and much larger with an Integrator. It is used in offices, hotels, retail, healthcare and warehouses to give staff cordless phones with seamless handover across the building.
The same hardware can take the role of base, DECT Manager or Integrator, so small sites can start with one unit and grow. Power comes over PoE (802.3af Class 1, just 2.1 W).
Before you order: This is a base station only — DECT handsets (e.g. Gigaset R700H PRO, S700H PRO) and a SIP PBX or SIP provider are required and sold separately. The unit is IP20 and must be mounted indoors.

What It Means in Practice
- Power from an 802.3af PoE switch, or with the optional Gigaset power supply (sold separately).
- Single system (DECT Manager): up to 60 bases, 250 users/handsets and 60 parallel calls; with an Integrator up to 240 bases and 800 users.
- Range up to 50 m indoors and 300 m outdoors in open space; walls and metal reduce this, so plan bases with a site survey.
- Codecs G.711, G.722 (HD voice) and G.729; SIP with SRTP/TLS for encrypted calls.
What Will Not Work
- Use without DECT handsets and a SIP PBX/provider.
- Mounting the base outdoors (IP20).
- External antennas — choose the N870E for outdoor or hall coverage.
- Analogue or ISDN lines directly.
