Good Connections OM5 LC/UPC to LC/UPC Duplex Fibre Patch Cable — 0.5 m
OM5 50/125 µmLC/UPC ↔ LC/UPCDuplex0.5 m · LSZH
The Good Connections LW-8005LC5 is a 0.5 m duplex OM5 multimode fibre optic patch cable (50/125 µm) with LC/UPC on one end and LC/UPC on the other, for short-reach multimode optics such as 1000BASE-SX or 10GBASE-SR SFP/SFP+ transceivers, multimode patch panels and server connections.
The lime green 3.0 mm jacket is LSZH (low smoke, zero halogen), with a minimum bend radius of 7.5 mm. Every cable is tested and shipped with its own measurement report. OM5 is wideband 50/125 µm multimode (lime green), designed for SWDM optics; it uses the same 50/125 µm core as OM3/OM4.
Before you order: This is OM5 multimode fibre for SR-type optics. It will not work with single-mode (LX/LR) transceivers. Check the label on your SFP module before ordering.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Good Connections OM5 duplex patch cable, LC/UPC to LC/UPC, 0.5 m
- Dust caps on the connectors
- Individual test / measurement report
- No couplers, adapters or transceivers are included
What It Means in Practice
- Duplex = two fibres, one to transmit and one to receive. A standard SFP/SFP+ module uses both, so one duplex cable makes one link.
- Same connector on both ends: LC (small, latching) — fits SFP/SFP+ modules and high-density panels.
- If the link shows no light, the duplex clip can be opened to swap polarity (A/B) — no re-termination needed.
- Jacket colour follows the usual convention (yellow single-mode, aqua OM3, violet OM4, lime OM5), so the cable is easy to identify later in the rack.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode (LX/LR/ER) transceivers or yellow OS2 cabling.
- Old 62.5/125 µm (OM1) cabling — the core size does not match 50/125 µm.
- APC (green) ports — many FTTH/GPON ONTs and fibre wall outlets use SC/APC.
- Ports other than LC (e.g. SC, ST, MPO/MTP) — use the matching cable or a suitable coupler.
- It is a passive cable: it does not turn an RJ45 copper port into fibre — that needs an SFP module or a media converter.
Key Features
LSZH 3.0 mm jacket
Low smoke, zero halogen — suitable for offices, public buildings and server rooms where PVC is not wanted.
LC/UPC / LC/UPC
LC on both ends for straight equipment-to-panel or equipment-to-equipment links.
Tested, with report
Each cable is measured before shipping and the report is in the bag — handy for installation documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP module?
Yes, if the module is multimode (SX or SR) with an LC port. LX/LR modules are single-mode and need a yellow OS2 cable instead.
The link shows no light — is the cable faulty?
Most often the two fibres are crossed the wrong way. Open the duplex clip, swap the two connectors on one end and try again.
Do I need a different length?
The same cable family is available in several lengths. Tell us the distance and the ports at both ends and we will suggest the right cord.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For fibre patch cords three things decide the order: fibre type (multimode OM5), connectors on each end (LC/UPC / LC/UPC) and polish (UPC). Match all three to the ports you already have and the cable simply works. Planning a new fibre uplink? See our
switches with SFP ports.
✓ Buy it if you need a 0.5 m OM5 duplex link between LC/UPC and LC/UPC ports.
✕ Skip it if your optics are LX/LR single-mode.
→ Also consider the same cord in other lengths, or the OS2 single-mode version if your optics differ.
Not sure which fibre or connector you have? Send us the switch or SFP module model and we will check it before you order.
