Good Connections LC-SC OM5 Duplex Fibre Patch Cable — 10 m
OM5 MultimodeLC/UPC – SC/UPC10 mLSZH 3 mm
The Good Connections LW-810LS5 is a 10 m duplex fibre optic patch cable with LC/UPC and SC/UPC connectors on OM5 multimode fibre (50/125 µm), for connecting multimode SFP/SFP+ transceivers, media converters and patch panels in racks, offices and server rooms.
OM5 is wideband multimode fibre (WBMMF): 50/125 µm fibre that behaves like OM4 at 850 nm and additionally supports short-wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM) between 850 and 953 nm. The lime-green jacket is the standard OM5 colour, and the cable works with all OM3/OM4-class multimode SR optics.
Before you order: This is OM5 multimode cable. It only works with multimode optics (SR/SX, 850 nm) and multimode panels, not with LX/LR singlemode transceivers.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Good Connections LW-810LS5 duplex fibre patch cable, LC/UPC – SC/UPC, 10 m
- Dust caps on the connector ends
- Individual test report (each cable is tested before shipping)
What It Means in Practice
- 10 m reaches across a server room or between racks in different rows; for permanent runs through walls or between floors, an installation cable terminated on panels is the more robust choice.
- Duplex means two fibres (transmit and receive) in one cable, which is exactly what a standard duplex SFP, SFP+ or QSFP transceiver needs.
- The duplex clip is detachable, so you can swap A/B polarity in the field if the link does not come up, instead of ordering a crossed cable.
- LSZH jacket, 3 mm outer diameter, lime green: halogen-free, the usual requirement for cabling inside offices, public buildings and data rooms.
- Minimum bend radius 7.5 mm: keep curves in cable managers and trunking wider than this to avoid extra loss or a damaged fibre.
What Will Not Work
- It will not mate correctly with APC (angled, normally green) ports or adapters; those need an APC cable.
- The two ends are different (LC and SC). If both of your ports are LC (or both SC), you need an LC-LC or SC-SC cable instead.
- It is not a copper cable: it does not connect to RJ45 ports or copper (RJ45) SFP modules.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP/SFP+ transceiver?
Yes if the transceiver is multimode (SR/SX, 850 nm) and the end you plug in is LC, which is the standard SFP/SFP+ port. LR/LX singlemode optics need an OS2 cable.
The link does not come up. What should I check?
First clean both connector end-faces and check that the transceivers on both sides are the same type and wavelength. Then check polarity: transmit on one side must reach receive on the other. On this cable you can swap the two fibres by opening the duplex clip.
Do I need OM5, or is OM4 enough?
For standard 10G/25G/40G/100G SR optics OM4 and OM5 behave the same. OM5 pays off only with SWDM optics (several wavelengths on one multimode fibre) or if your installation is already OM5 and you want consistent colour coding.
Can I join two cables to make a longer run?
Yes, with a matching LC coupler, but every mated pair adds loss. For a permanent longer link it is better to order the right length in one piece; ask us and we will check which lengths of this series we can supply.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most fibre problems we see come from three mismatches: multimode vs singlemode, UPC vs APC, and LC vs SC. This Good Connections cable is OM5 multimode, UPC LC-SC, so match it to your optics and panel first. If you are building the link from scratch, pick the transceivers and
switches with SFP ports first, then choose the cable that matches them.
✓ Buy it if your equipment uses OM5 multimode fibre with LC/UPC and SC/UPC ports and 10 m covers the distance.
✕ Skip it if your transceivers are singlemode (LR/LX), or your ports are APC.
→ Also consider the same cable in other lengths, or an LC-LC version if your ports differ; matching SFP/SFP+ transceivers.
Not sure which cable you need? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check connectors and fibre type before you order.
