The Good Connections USB-AD203 is a USB-A (male) to USB-C (female) adapter with 480 Mbit/s data. It lets a USB-C cable or device plug into an older USB-A port — on a desktop PC, laptop, car socket, TV, power bank or wall charger.
Typical use: you have a USB-C to USB-C cable (from a new phone, earbuds or a controller) and only a USB-A port to plug it into. The adapter makes the cable usable for charging and data without buying a second cable.
Before you order: Good Connections rates the adapter for up to 60 W (20 V / 3 A), but a USB-A port cannot negotiate USB Power Delivery. Real charging is limited to what the USB-A port or charger supplies.

What It Means in Practice
- USB 2.0 speed (480 Mbit/s): fine for charging, syncing phones, keyboards, mice and headsets; slow for SSD backups.
- Compact plug-in design: it adds only a couple of centimetres to the port, so it can stay on the cable permanently.
- Plug-and-play — no driver on Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS.
What Will Not Work
- No video: a USB-C monitor or display adapter will not work through a USB-A port.
- No laptop fast charging: a USB-C laptop will not charge at its rated wattage from a USB-A port through this adapter.
- Thunderbolt and USB4 devices fall back to plain USB or do not work at all.
- Do not order it by mistake instead of the 2-piece set USB-AD203-2 — the same adapter is also sold as 3-, 5- and 10-piece sets.
