HP 207X Original Black High-Yield LaserJet Toner Cartridge, 3,150 Pages, for Color LaserJet Pro M255 and MFP M282/M283
HP 207X Black High-Yield Original LaserJet Toner
The HP 207X Black is an original HP high-yield LaserJet toner cartridge rated for approx. 3,150 pages (ISO/IEC 19798), made for the HP Color LaserJet Pro M255 printers and the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M282 and M283. It suits small offices where black text is most of the printing on a compact colour laser.
Black usually runs out first on these printers, so the high-yield 207X is the economical choice: it prints more than twice the pages of the standard HP 207A (W2210A, approx. 1,350 pages) in the same slot, and it carries the original HP chip these Dynamic Security printers are designed to accept.

What It Means in Practice
- The page count is the manufacturer's declared yield, measured with the ISO/IEC 19798 test method (about 5% coverage per page). Photos, full-page graphics and heavy fills use more toner, so real-world counts are often lower.
- These printers use HP Dynamic Security: HP states they are intended to work only with cartridges that carry a new or reused HP chip, and firmware updates can block cartridges with non-HP chips. An original cartridge like this one avoids that risk.
- 207X and 207A fit the same printers — choose 207X when black is your most-used colour.
- Store unopened cartridges flat in their original packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat, and open the sealed bag only when you install it.
- Before ordering, check the code printed on the cartridge currently in your printer, or the supplies page of the printer menu — matching that code is the fastest way to be sure.
What Will Not Work
- Printers that are not on the compatible list below, even models with a similar name — supply codes are model-specific.
- HP Color LaserJet Pro M254/M280/M281 — similar size and naming, but they use HP 203 cartridges.
- It does not replace the cyan, magenta or yellow cartridge — each colour has its own code.
