The HP 230A Yellow is an original HP LaserJet toner cartridge rated for approx. 1,800 pages, made for the HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201–4203 printers and the Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301–4303, including their HP+ versions. It suits small offices that print colour regularly but not in large volumes.
It carries an original HP chip, which is what these Dynamic Security printers are designed to accept, and it is the correct choice for HP+ models, which are set up to use original HP supplies. For higher colour volumes, the HP 230X Yellow (W2302X) fits the same slot.

- The page count is the manufacturer's declared yield at standard office coverage. Photos, full-page graphics and heavy fills use more toner, so real-world counts are often lower.
- These printers use HP Dynamic Security: HP states they are intended to work only with cartridges that carry a new or reused HP chip, and firmware updates can block cartridges with non-HP chips. An original cartridge like this one avoids that risk.
- HP+ versions (dne / dwe / fdne / fdwe) are designed to use original HP cartridges only — this one meets that requirement.
- Store unopened cartridges flat in their original packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat, and open the sealed bag only when you install it.

What Will Not Work
- Printers that are not on the compatible list below, even models with a similar name — supply codes are model-specific.
- Older HP Color LaserJet Pro M454/M479 or M255/M283 — they use HP 415 and HP 207 cartridges.
- It does not replace the black, cyan or magenta cartridge — each colour has its own code.
