The HP 285 Silent Wireless Mouse (6G4E6AA#ABB) is the current successor to the HP 280 Silent: a three-button ergonomic mouse whose left and right clicks are up to 90% quieter than a standard mouse, with a 2.4 GHz dongle that stores inside the body, HP Blue Optical multi-surface tracking up to 1200 DPI, AES-128 encryption and up to 18 months from one AA battery. HP lists Windows 10/11, macOS and ChromeOS and a one-year limited warranty.

Compatibility — check before buying:
2.4 GHz dongle only — no Bluetooth; the dongle is USB-A, so USB-C-only laptops need an adapter. Three buttons, no side buttons or DPI switch. HP calls the shape ergonomic but does not state the hand orientation or the colour on its page (listings show a black mouse). HP’s European box list shows the mouse, dongle and documents and does not list a battery — ask us if you need that confirmed. Not the HP 280 Silent (19U64AA), the previous model with the same idea.

The 285 is the newer model with AES-128 encryption and a slightly different body; both have quiet left/right clicks, Blue Optical 1200 DPI and an 18-month AA rating.
Does it have Bluetooth?
No. It uses the included 2.4 GHz dongle. For a Bluetooth HP mouse choose the HP 240, 245 or 435.
Is a battery included?
HP’s European box list does not show one. Ask us and we will confirm the current packaging.
